Let's look at where things stand after 5 years. One year is not a large enough sample size.

It's not, and neither is the game that LSU won mid season. In five years we'll know for sure. I'm speculating.

In the end it all boils down to recruiting.

Their recruiting is going to soar for 4 reasons:

Great season, lots of hype
the best kids want to play in the SEC
exciting to watch
80% of the top athletes are black and will relate well to a young black head coach

I wanna say NO but look what Sumlin did with Keenum, that wasn't a one hit wonder, granted that was vs horrible defenses but Sumlin already has 3 big time wideouts coming in and with that offense he's always gonna get players hyped about playing in the SEC and playing in a uptempo offense....what is LSU's pitch to a 5 star rb? Come be one of our 5 stud rb's and run the toss dive a few times a game....Im as big a homer as anyone but I am fearful for the future...A and M is in an envious position with a great coach, great QB, great recruiting state, great conference, and a killer gameday atmosphere....

I love my tigers...but LES and this conservative gameplan is going to bite us in the rear soon because les isn't saban, we barely stretch the field and I cant imagine why any big time QB would ever wanna come to us

Of course it does.

I know right? Les and Nick, being old white guys, are struggling with recruits these day.

1) You must not have watched this year. We stretched the field plenty.

2) Then explain why 2 highly rated QBs are already on campus???

come to LSU and play in the NFL. and in that whole post you discounted why we've been good: defense. we will have no problem convincing the nation's elite defensive plyers to come to lsu. and besides all that, lsu gets basically anyone they want from the state of louisiana (yes we lost landon collins, i know), and louisiana breeds good football players every year

Nope, born and raised in BR. I like LSU and all, but I don't think my being irrational helps them in any way, so it frees me up to look at the landscape objectively.

Of course, the 'super fans' here weren't worried about LSU falling back when Saban took over at Bama. It's like LSU has always been great and will always be great.

The SEC is fixing that...Bama gets to play A&M early next year while LSU gets to play A&M and Bama late in the year.

How have we "fallen back" in your eyes? We just played for the National Championship a year ago and we won 10 games this year.

No. This was A&M's year to be good. The SEC will adjust to the offense that they run. In addition, the Aggies are taking major hits in terms of graduation and early entries to the NFL. Time will tell.

relative to the rest of the west, LSU has fallen back. When Saban Took over, LSU was the dominant team in the West and the nation. Now LSU is a distant second to Bama with ATM poised to make a strong push for the #2 spot. Hell they won 11 games with a 1st year head coach after being a .500 team in a weaker conference the year before.

nothing like a short stupid response to a question that doesn't have a simple answer.

I hope the poster is right about the SEC figuring out the AtM offense.

I'd bet on them recruiting better defensive players before I'd bet their offense goes south, though.

Hmmmm, won the West last year and finished 2nd behind the National Champions this year. That's a helluva step back.

LSU has a top 10 recruitng class again.
LSU beat A&M at their place.
LSU was one defensive stop away from winning the West again last year.
LSU won the west in 2011.

Yep, the sky is falling in Baton Rouge.
