powertrain warranty runs out.

How do I release the beast in my engine?
1. Programmer
2. Drop to straight pipes and get rid of the earth people bs
3.?

Looking for options on economy, towing, power.

Who does this kind of work? What are the negatives?

TNT performance on airline specializes in diesels, they can give you plenty of options depending on $$$ you want to spend, ask for Tony

I'm not a fan of juicing them up with programmers. Unless you pay close attention and make sure you don't overlook ANYTHING, you'll tear something up faster than usual.

Getting rid of all the hippie parts will do you a whole lot of good. Get that done and go from there.

Gotta get a programmer for that.

I think H&S is the go-to company for Duramax engines. Get an intake and exhaust and be done with it.

Those transmissions don't hold up well with a lot of power added to them. Call Tony and ask what he thinks should be done. Very knowledgeable people over there

Can't you get them set up to run right without trying to push a bunch of extra power out of it?

Yeah, Just turn the programmer down. You won't got as good a mileage as possible by doing so though. On mine, you can run it from stock hp to +350hp. There are 20 different tunes for no EPA stuff, and 10 when you have the EPA stuff on still

EPA junk is what kills mileage and ruins motors so it is best to remove ASAP

Just checked, H&S goes up to +175hp on the 6.6 Duramax. Seems like that is the limit for them. Read lots of forms

Yea thats what I have heard. Drop the ERG and go straight pipes. Tune it for performance and towing. Tuning for just stupid power tears it up.

I'm trying to get 400K miles out of my engine without major repair.

well shite...

Just called TNT. Apparently EPA cracked down on H&S and the like.
Buying a programmer and straight pipes is like buying an AR-15 now.

EGR
DPF
DOC
dunno if they have a urea system, but ditch that
Exhaust
Programmer
Intake - your stock filter will collapse from the added pressure pulling on it
If you add a bunch of juice, you are gonna have to do something to the transmission
Also, Duramax-specific stuff

DO NOT tow on the regular tunes. I did with mine, coupled with the fact that I drive like an a-hole, and blew my head gasket. The tuners are good to watch engine gauges. Didn't pay attention to mine and hit 62lbs of boost.

It can get pretty expensive to mod it correctly for more power. There used to be a guy who raced a Duramax on here. Can't remember who it was though

order it off of the internet. Many places have them. You can get a package deal of programmer/intake/exhaust. All you have to do is sign some stupid "Off-road" waiver

How do I release the beast in my engine?
1. Programmer
2010 is an LMM easily tuned with EFI Live...can be programmed to your exact modifications and driving style (H&S is/was the only one that released tuning for the LML there may still be some available but that is not what you need)
I know several tuners that can program your LMM with EFI (5 position switchable tuning)

2. Drop to straight pipes and get rid of the earth people bs
The Best EGR delete kit is made by AllSeasonsDiesel I would buy his kit you will need EFI live or you can purchase whatb is called a finger stick to eliminate the Codes that may be thrown(allseason sells them as well)
Depends on your taste for loud exhaust I would go with Corsa...near zero resonance and quiet except when you really get on it...flows as well as any performance exhaust out there too...you can still get a cat delete from most performance shops

3.?
get a Transgo Jr. kit installed(it won't hold 400rwhp daily, but will extend the life of your trans...cheaper than getting a Suncoast stageV transmission installed
Looking for options on economy, towing, power.

Who does this kind of work? What are the negatives?

the tuning(EFI) gives you a 5 position switch position 1 is usually stock but with proper timing and some tweaks that really pep it up position 2 is usually for towing(self explanatory) it gives you added power but keeps your EGT's down in a safe zone when towing heavy loads...3,4&5 is all depending on what you want out of it...some try to tune for mileage on #3, 4 and 5 are usually for hot tunes...but will be set according your preferences and what your truck will handle based on the modifications you've done...you'd be hard pressed to find someone that will give you a race tune or full race tune if you haven't installed gauges(EGT&Boost) or modified your transmission...or put a larger exhaust to keep the EGT's down...you will tear something up if you aren't careful and they don't want to be held responsible...
if 4x4 you will want to get new tie rod ends with tie rod sleeves or they make beefy ones(cognito etc..)that do the same thing.

there is a lot you can do, it's just up to you how far you want to go or how far your wallet will let you...

Let me know if I can answer anymore questions for you...I love talking about this crap...it's a hobby...

tuning will cost $425-$649 depending on what you want...

EGR Delete kit is $554 which really is a good thing...keeps your intake clean and from having to replace EGR motors in the future(now that it's out of warranty)

Exhaust
Corsa is $848 (not including the cat delete pipev$419)
MBRP is $319 (includes cat delete pipe)

a Corsa muffler alone is $325 (it's what sets them apart[price wise too] for a quality no drone exhaust)
Long bed could increase the prices...

Transgo Jr. will cost you $109, you could do this yourself(just entails dropping the pan and valve body to install the kit) don't know what anyone local would charge you to do it...

well, you' aren't going to pick up much economy unless you put a block under the go pedal...

and with that increased economy and tuning comes increased performance...which in turn leadds to leaning on that pedal just a little bit more ...which in turn leads to reduced economy...it's a vicious circle

I had heard that the shut down H&S but didnt know how much truth there was to this. Seems that the Govt got tired of people saying that it was for offroad purposes only.
