Sons of Anarchy question: does anyone else think Happy serves no purpose?

He literally serves no purpose on the show. His character is highly undeveloped, and the only thing we know about him is that he's a crazy ex-Nomad.
He's never been involved in any major story lines (unlike EVERY other regular character on the show). He's just there...

Here's why:
Happy is a real motorcycle club member and was brought on to make sure things look authentic. They gave him a cameo everyone liked him so much they gave him a role in the show.

I have to agree with the OP. I'd like to see this side of him a bit more. He may just not be that good of an actor and is severely limited.

I'm sure this is it. The guy isn't an actor. He's a real member of the Hells Angels who was hired as a consultant to make the show more realistic. They can't do much with his character because he can't act

Who else would say "yeaaaahhh" instead of just "yay" when they take a vote? Also, he does the shite nobody else is grim enough to do.
