Simple question: do you think his settlement ended up being 7+ figures?

People are amplifying the narrative that suits them. That he was totally innocent, bargained even though he had nothing to hide, paid off people even though he had done nothing wrong, snitched, but that's ok. Benefit, benefit, benefit - he gets the benefit of every doubt. Other athletes should be so lucky. Clearly, this is all just a racist conspiracy to make Ray Ray look bad.

I have nothing against Lewis and I'm not 'scared' as a 49er fan. I don't take pro football seriously enough to be personally scared of anyone. I just don't think he's good enough to be personified as a role model. Which he is. In the media and in this very thread. I've always believed he's a filthy player, not deserving of the respect he receives on and off the field. This article has just reinforced what I already believed about him.

So pretty much everyone who has coached, played with or against, met and spent time with(as many in the media have) Ray Lewis will speak to the kind of person and teammate he is and how much they respect him but a bunch of douchebags on a message board are the ones who really know how he should be remembered? Got it.

Who is doing this "worship".

I agree. I see more people bashing him and bringing up the murder crap. Nobody was bringing this shite up last season, 2 seasons ago, 5yrs ago, etc. Now all of a sudden people mad.lol.

The fact he paid anything....

...means that he didn't want to be deposed, pay the legal fees, or have the litigation drag on for years. It's not an admission of guilt, and there's no way a pro athlete ever wants to go through discovery.

Well his play has gone down hill the last few.... Not much to talk about. His retirement and the media's reaction has generated all this.

Came back from an injury that was supposed to keep him out for the season and is the leading tackler in the playoffs. Yea, he's a bum now.

I don't really care about the guy. Find it laughable people want to bring up "murder" charges from years ago. Nobody was talking that crap until the middle of this season. Now I'm hearing it all talk radio, etc. If Baltimore sucked people wouldn't even mention ray ray. Strange huh. The team doing good all they wanna talk about is murda, murda, snitch, hero, putting on a act, fake, etc.

Any other time we bash athletes for not showing emotion, not caring about the game, only out for the money, etc.

The fact that he first lied, later snitched and then had to pay off the family tells me all I need to know about the man and what he got away with.

he lied, and was convicted of obstruction. justice done

he testified against 2 people and they were still found not guilty

he would lose a civil lawsuit, so why wouldn't he settle?

i'd almost guarantee the total settlement was over 7-figures when all was said and done (i'd imagine there was a structure to it)

they knew they had him by the balls from the mere fact he agreed to settle. If they were seeking 13mil, im pretty sure they didnt venture to far from that number.

its not an admission of guilt, but that is a pretty damning figure.
