The Ray Lewis Murder Charges - a refresher with witness testimonies

Squeaky clean and model athlete. Absolutely nothing to read here. The man is innocent. Let's get back to worshiping him and listening to him spew gospels like he's the chosen one.

LINK

quote:

Keven Brown, a security guard from Decatur, Georgia, later tells authorities that before he helped break up the fight, he saw a “very intoxicated” Lewis exiting the club

quote:

After clearing people out of the way, Brown says, he saw Baker lying, fatally wounded, on the pavement, and looked up to see Lollar walk toward them, fatally wounded as well. Police will note that they were about 200 yards from the club. Brown says he saw a knife on the ground, heard someone say, “I stabbed him,” and called 911.

quote:

Meanwhile, Lewis and 10 members of his entourage pile into the Pro Bowler’s rented Lincoln Navigator limo as someone fires shots at the vehicle. Blood stains are later discoveredinside the limo.

quote:

nvestigators speak with Lewis, who supplies misleading information. Lewis is arrested and held in police custody without bail, where he knowingly makes an untrue statement to Lieutenant Michael Smith

quote:

Ray Lewis and his two acquaintances are indicted by a Fulton County grand jury on two counts each of malice murder, felony murder, and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon

quote:

Lewis agrees to a plea bargain — his murder and aggravated assault charges are dropped in exchange for his testimony against Sweeting and Oakley.

quote:

The family of Kellye Smith, Richard Lollar's then-fiancé who was pregnant at the time, sues Lewis (on behalf of her and Lollar’s daughter) for $13 million. They also reach a settlement, which includes a confidentiality clause.

what about his blood soaked white suit that was allegedly dumped in a fast food garbage can?

Another witness will testify to seeing a passenger exit the car and walk toward a trash can, but that he was holding a brown paper bag. Prosecutors will allege that inside the bag was Lewis’s white, blood-stained suit. The suit is never found

He may or may not be a murderer. One thing we know for certain, though, is that he's a snitch. And that's pretty damn bad.

He's either a murderer or an accessory. The fact that he first lied, later snitched and then had to pay off the family tells me all I need to know about the man and what he got away with.

I can't believe people have forgotten all this. Guys like Plaxico and Adam Jones are angels compared to this guy and he's supposedly a role model?

Damn, I always forget, that the only options are either thinking someone is guilty of murder or squeaky clean and needs to be worshiped.

I don't know if you're being cynical or not. I can't tell. I don't know if he's a murderer based on this article. But I do know he doesn't deserve the worship.

Honestly, watching football players up close from three major college programs and two NFL teams, a shite load of them hang out with the wrong crowd at times and put themselves in situations where they might end up making decisions based on their future earnings versus the truth.

Be it a college player accused of getting paid, a college coach caught with a woman not his wife, a future HOF quarterback texting pictures of his dick to chicks not his wife, a player involved in a bar fight that leads to serious injuries and even death...any time I see that shite in the past few years I think "there but for the grace of God goes one of my favorite players/coaches".

Nothing Ray did in that situation was right, but the holier-than-thou postulating gets old. A shitton of the guys we cheer for on the field are one mistake away from being caught in a bad situation, because the lifestyles they lead and the people who suck up to them aren't normal.

Go ahead and feel superior, but don't mind me when I thank Jesus it wasn't Mett or Chavis or Hill in that situation.

Oh...wait...one of them *did* find themselves in serious trouble not that long ago.

Huh. I must have missed the threads about how people were pulling against the Tigers because of said person who got in serious legal trouble that went away now being a star player on our team.

What does it say about the prosecutors if they offered him a deal? Could it be that he, you know, didn't kill anyone or that they didn't have any evidence against him.

As for "paying" off the family, that should tell you it was a lot cheaper than going thru a trial. Good chance he was only sued because he is famous and has deep pockets.

according to who? Why should football players, regardless of past associations be considered role models? He's a good football player, that's it as far as i'm concerned.

I do based on the fact that he was not charged with, let alone convicted of murder.

Who is doing this "worship".

Can ya'll make your minds up? Wasn't Carmelo called a thug for his Stop Snitching endorsement a couple years back?

Oh ok. So they had no evidence against him, nothing that could link him to the crime so they offer him a deal? Yep, that's exactly how our legal system works.

People don't just get your money if you have deep pockets. There was clearly cause. Nobody pays 13M unless they have something to hide.

Monitor ESPN closely for the next 2 weeks and you'll have your answer. Count the number of times the word 'role model', 'legend' and 'heroic' are used. Ray Lewis is portrayed as a role model for defensive players. Have you heard his sermons lately? They are pretty well televised.

They had him for obstruction, doesn't mean he committed the murder.

Didn't say he did commit a murder. Didn't say he should be in jail either. But he isn't squeaky clean and he is no role model.

He can still be all those things on the field even if he isn't off it.

And I don't remember anyone claiming that Ray Lewis is a squeaky clean human being.

Right, there was no evidence against him. We are all innocent until proven guilty, so...

I don't watch ESPN except for games, they jumped the shark for me a long time ago. I suggest you do the same if hyperbole bothers you. Most of what I have seen and stuff like calling him "legend" are in respect to him as a football player. He is a great football player.

All the Ray Lewis threads I've seen on this board recently have been started by people that don't like him and think he is a murderer. I don't recall a "Ray Lewis is a Hero" thread.

Fail. Two of them were in serious trouble not too long ago.
