Poche's isn't in Laffy, but I do like their plate lunch offerings.

G Vice, thanks for the info.

I hear you....I like Laura's too.

I keep setting myself up for failure by going to good plate lunch places, then trying to eat healthy.

I am a fan of Dwyers but you must admit T-Coons wait staff makes up for the quality of the food.

Anybody been to Norbert's in Broussard. I live here and see it on the weekends, but it never seems open. It says the home of rice and gravy on the sign.

I'll second that vote for Poches, short drive to Breaux BR. Pork backbone stew, crawfish étouffée and a side of fried catfish. All good sides to choose from. Pick up a ponce or deboned stiffed chicken to cook later for supper.

Darla neglected to tell me where this was at (i.e. located), so I thank you, and will have to check this place out.

ETA: i.e. - investigate the premises and ascertain it's gastronomic value.

Sorry I didn't help you out with where it was. Can I make it up to you with a link to their plate lunch menu? Poche's Plate Lunch Menu

I do the same thing, G Vice. I go to Poche's and Dwyer's all the time and try to eat as healthfully as I can from their choices. Last Friday I got a crawfish stuffed chicken breast and some smothered okra from Dwyer's. I consider that a win, since I stayed away from the rice, potatoes, mac 'n cheese, bread and dessert.

And it's not on their posted menu, but during winter, Poche's usually has chicken and sausage gumbo. Really dark roux, which I like. They also make pulled pork sandwiches. They call them pulled pork po-boys, but it's not on French bread. Regardless, the pulled pork is good.

Janky, I think it's just a Monday through Friday lunch place. I haven't been, but I know I've heard it was decent. How about Tiny's House of Meat? He's got plate lunches, too.

(Edited to get Tiny's store name right.)

Timy's is no longer open. It's Jason's grill now. Haven't been but says plate lunches and oriental food. Have tried Norbert's. kind of like the old silver moon in Baton Rouge just more cafeteria style. Home cooked creole food.

What's even worse is the worst plate lunch in Lafayette is better than the best in BR.

If Breaux's Mart on Moss on the Northside is still doing lunches go Friday and get their Shrimp and Tasso Stew. You'll thank me later. The smothered Boston Butt steaks rocked also.

Landry's: go north on Ambassador all the way to Cameron Street. Right on Cameron, then it's one block on the right.

The food is pretty good, but everytime I go there I run into one of those poles, and inside the tables are too crowded..

There's a place on Bendel called Kajun Korner that has a large seafood platter with shrimp fried rice instead on fries for about $9.50, best deal in town.
