Yes, elite speed is always necessary to be a good receiver.

The only exceptions are people like Reuben Randle, Dwayne Bowe, Micheal Clayton, Josh Reed, Early Doucet, Brandon Lafell...wait a second...

You are so right. All of LSU's past receivers had elite speed. No way this guy can make it.

I just want someone who catches the ball.

As a bonus, stays on their feet after the catch. During JJ years we had zero YAC.

4.5 speed isn't enough for you?

do you expect all of our WR's to run sub 4.4's?

We had almost zero catches, too. The ball was often thrown so poorly, that even when it was caught, the receiver was stopped or fallen.

Jarvis Landry was a consensus 5-star and probably couldn't beat Spears in a foot race.

LSU should be at about 2800 points right now. Not all the adjustments have been made apparently. If Spears gets a 4 star ranking, LSU will be #1 in recruiting at about 2875 points.

If this is true, fap.

we are at 2660 right now. I dont think spears will get us 140 points.

If Neal, Spears and LaCouture all get 4 star bumps we might get to 2880.

Even then bama is sitting at 2706 right now with only 21 comits. They will land 3-5 more guys and will shoot up the rankings. We have no shot at passing them unless we land Foster, RN, and Willis.

Do we know what Spears runs in the 40? He looks like a slower prospect.

He looks like about the same speed as Landry. About a 4.6, maybe 4.7. Of course I could be wrong.

Dude people discredit a 4.5. It is flying. Demaryius Thomas and Dez Bryant run 4.5s.

my bad, I forgot that you had such keen observational skills that you can tell a .1 difference in the 40 yard dash based off of watching film.

I have seen the kid play numerous times, and he is almost always the fastest player on the field. he routinely outran DB's without looking like he was even going full speed

I just don't see where this is coming from. He looks quick as hell off the line. I don't see anything in the video, other than him beating DB's both down the field and up top, which would give us any indication of what his top, in stride speed is.

As far as we know, he's NOT a slower prospect. In fact, his quickness looks better than most.

Seriously, against 4A competition in LA with this only being his second year of playing WR or even football in general, he seems like a great take.

not to mention, I think all of their non district games were against 5A teams

Retards that don't see highlights films like Andre Debose's, where he just burns everyone on tape. There is so much more to being a receiver than running a 4.4 forty. It is laughable how much stock people put into numbers.

LSU whiffed on the chance to get elite speed by not reeling in Bradley Sylve. He's been doing wonders as a receiver for the Tide. Oh wait he was moved to defensive back and plays only in garbage time? Maybe speed is not the most important attribute of a wideout.
