while playing NCAA Football 11. It happened once 2 weeks ago, once last week and 3 times yesterday.

I searched the board and nothing about this came up. If I'm asking a frequent question, I'm sorry.

How do I know if it's the disk versus an overheating problem or worse? It has no problem playing dvds.

What extra measures did you take to cool the machine? Did you open it up to clean out dust? I don't play much, about 2-3 hours per week.

Thanks for any help.

It's the disc. I've heard about freezing problems with NCAA 11 so I'm guessing the only thing you can do is clean the disc.

I've got a slim and it runs like a champ, never had any problems whatsoever.

Clean the disk, clean the vents so there is no dust clogging them at all.

Take out the hard drive and put it back in.

Thanks for your answers.

Today I put it up on four 1 inch cubes from my child's barrel of blocks and placed a small 4 inch fan blowing on the PS3. So far so good. Heat on the bottom per touch was seemingly greatly reduced. Vents were minimally dusty.
