Chad Jones will never make a roster. He was a great player, but his injuries were so bad he can forget football. Maybe baseball. That's where he should focus.

Atta boy...there's the kind of attitude that helps people get over disease and injury. You're the villain in any documentary about someone who overcame anything.

Pretty sure the doctors told him he wouldn't be able to walk or use his legs again. How'd that work out? Who the hell are you to tell him what he can and can't do? If he keeps working his arse off who knows what will happen. He's beaten the odds once already.

Obviously some shite is over the line, but it's not the mods' jobs to read every damn line about every damn player in LSU history in hopes that every damn said player won't get offended

I guess this is just the Pollyanna fan in me, but for the life of me I can't see the point in running down LSU, her players, or her coaches when you claim to be an LSU fan. That's counter-intuitive as far as I'm concerned.

I realize this point of view may be out of touch, because clearly for some the only way to "keep it real" is to keep it real cynical or real negative. I just don't subscribe to that.

These are OUR guys, and until they REALLY go out of their way to do something to harm the program, they remain our guys. They chose LSU over a host of other suitors...in large part (we like to tell ourselves) due to the passion and support of the fans! When they did so, they became part of our extended family...always. And yet, all it takes is a poor performance and these same "fans" will lose their shite and immediately go ad hom on an anonymous message board. Who gives a shite if EVERYONE does it...is that suddenly a defense for poor behavior towards our own?

As for whether or not it is the mods job to police...that's an interesting question. Presumably the board was created by an LSU fan for LSU fans to discuss LSU. Not to bash LSU, despite the idiots' suggestion that the Rant in Tiger Rant suggests one ought to rant every time one posts. Why then would a board set up by an LSU fan for LSU fans WANT the tone of the board to be so negative when in a case like this you READ a former Tiger talk about how corrosive this place would have been for him had he seen it while he was a playing? Hell...you even see LSU fans talk about what an abyss this place has become over the last year. Frankly, I'm not sure why the negative fan is courted at the expense of others and in this case at the potential risk of turning off players...but then it's not my board.

BeeFense5 & DanglingFury

Honestly, I hate this topic. Even when I'm at my most upset with players, coaches or the program in general, I've never once felt the need to come into a forum like this (or the old Lair back when I was a member there) and run down anyone. Arguing that you have a right to be a dick and say whatever you want is not the same thing as offering a good reason to do so.

If the goal is to see LSU succeed, then it would seem clear that one of the best ways regular fans can do that is to unite behind the program and create as positive an atmosphere as they could to foster that. Instead, we get people here who bash the program and call themselves realists and then complain when there seems to be a bad vibe around the program.
