re: Colin Powell is quite anti republican. (Posted on 1/21/13 at 4:13 pm to tigersruledude)
quote: All you have to know about Colin Powell has been detailed in the last two elections when he endorsed Obama.
He claims to be a moderate....
...but he endorsed Obama over John McCain who is perhaps the most moderate candidate for President Republicans have run in a LOOOOOONG time. They dont get much more moderate Republican than McCain.
...but he endorses Obama.
Now maybe we give him a pass and understand that maybe he fell for the "hope and change" stuff. Its possible i guess. Maybe he thought that Obama was going to unite the country and all that garbage.
...but then you have the 1st four years of Obama. At no time did he attempt to be anything but an extreme partisan on every issue. He ramrodded thru legislation without a care in the world for unity. He for the most part didn't even try. He is very much a scorched earth kind of guy when it comes to that stuff. Certainly not a uniter of any kind. He mostly advocated very liberal positions and then continued most of the Bush foreign policy stuff he claimed to be against.
Then you have Powell endorsing Obama again.
There is not a Republican on earth that could watch Obama for the first four years and then vote for him and stay a Republican. You might not like Romney (who is still a pretty moderate Republican)...but there is just no way you are a Republican and a 2012 Obama supporter.
There are only two choices:
Powell either endorsed and supported Obama simply because he is African American.
Powell is no longer a Republican (with the possibility that he never was one in the first place)
Maybe because Obama is probably closer to the model of a moderate Republican than anyone who ran in the primaries last year.
