possessing a handgun at 19

For my dad to give me a handgun , do I have to fill out a transfer form or can he just give it to me?

Is owning it under 21 illegal or just purchasing? Not sure.

And I'm pretty sure the form you speak of doesnt exist.

So I wouldn't have to register it under my name or anything?

In LA, you can possess at 18, hell you can buy from an individual. Just can't purchase from a store. Dumb as hell.

What's the deal with this registration form from LSP in this link fellas? Copied from OP's thread on the Poliboard. Didn't know this existed.

You CAN register it. You don't have to.

its my understanding that that form is for peace of mind for the transferee and not the recipient, you don't have to full that out. it is voluntary.

Get him to buy you a box of ammo too. You wont be able to purchase any until you're 21. Which I believe is dumb because the only 9mm that I currently own is a carbine.

I heard at some places if you say it's for a rifle they will sell you pistol caliber ammo. The whole shotgun/rifle 18 vs pistol 21 thing is pretty damn stupid.
