Beau Soliel Quick Review

The wife and I decided we wanted to grab something nice to eat last night. We were trying to decide between LL, Digiulio Bros, Doe's, or Parrains......wife said she wanted something new so I recommended Beau Soliel.
We arrived around 8pm and were seated immediately. I had been for lunch 1 time prior, so I knew what the place looked like, but it being the wife's first time, she thought it was a nice cozy little restaurant. We both ordered a cocktail, which arrived promptly and tasted fine.
Appetizer: Foie Gras on a Purple waffle - We both thought it tasted good, but was totally not worth the price ($13) for the size. It was literally 1 bite......we've gotten Foie Gras at other places (Ex. Gautreau's in NOLA) and it was no where near as small of portion as this.
Entrees: 1. Fresh Gulf Fish w/ crab meat & a cream sauce 2. 8 oz grilled filet w/ a bearnaise sauce. - First of all, my wife ordered the quail, only to find out that they had run out (if they ever had any), kinda odd to run out of an everyday menu item 2 hours before you close. The wife then decided on the steak, which is where everything started going down hill. We're really not impatient people, but after a 30-40 min wait for our entrees it was started to get ridiculous for a table of 2 to wait this long when the restaurant wasn't slammed. The waitress must have told us 3-4 times she was going to check on our food to no avail......finally 45 mins later our food arrives. In addition to our 2 entrees we also ordered their Red Onion Blue Cheese side, which didn't arrive with the entrees.....it took till the end of the meal for it to show up. Both entrees tasted ok, nothing extraordinary, especially for the price.
Cons:
1. Running out of menu items
2. Entrees took forever to come out
3. Some portions are too small
4. Entire meal (atmosphere, service, food) not worth the price
Summary:
(2) Cocktails
(1) Appetizer
(2) Entrees
(1) Side (that we ended up not paying for)
Bill - over $100
We may go back for lunch, but dinner is not worth it.....could have gone down the road to Flemings or Mansur's and had a better meal.

Yeah if that was the only issue, no big deal. Overall the dinner just didn't impress me.....however on the positive, I did think the lunch meal I had was great and worth the money.

Three of us had dinner last night. GF ordered the quail. It was definitely the best of our party's entrees. We went in early though.
Agree 100% with you about price/portion size.

See, I prefer their dinner to their lunch because their lunch is your run of the mill fried chicken, hamburger, etc.
That being said, one of my only issues with Beausoliel is that they are ALWAYS out of something.. Regular menu items at that.
Still have yet to have the pork cheeks because they're always out.
If an item is hard to keep, take it off the menu.

I agree. I've gone for that, and ended up having to get something other than what I went for.
