I understand that this list is subjective and therefore arbitrary; however, I cannot understand how anybody can have a top 5 list without Billy Cannon on it.
Cannon's size and speed was impressive by today's standards. By 1950-1960 standards he an absolute aberration. If you look at Cannon's accomplishments on the field, I don't know how you keep him off of this list.

I assume that when some posters reject white athletes from the past in favor of contemporary players, they refuse to project those older players with the beneift of modern traiing , diet, weight programs etc.
Billy Cannnon was a freak athlete and belongs on anyone's LSU's greatest list. As pure athletes, he and Patrick Peterson are the two that stand out in my mind.
