FIRE EVERYBODY

Never have and never will call for an LSU coach to be fired. I've never done anything well enough in my life to call for the firing of someone whose job I've never performed.

But I invest alot of time and alot of money on LSU basketball in my lifetime. And I'm gonna give a reasonable opinion and have no regrets about it.

I'm gonna give Johnny as fair a chance as anyone on here. But I'm gonna call crap what it is.

Bring on the cavalry Johnny. That can cover up alot of crap.

I don't see improvement in this team. Looks like JJ needs a lot of talent to make his "system" work.

You've got two really talented players on the team and one of them has played like crap the majority of the year.

Not really. Look at where North Texas was before he was hired, and look at where they are now.

Joe Alleva could not pull in a big time basketball coach. We have coach Jones for at least 4 more seasons. LSU is the Kentucky of college football. That is who we are on the totem pole as of 2013. Accept it. No one wanted this job.

At least LSU is competitive in football and baseball. Let us be grateful for that. Alabama has football and women's softball and that is it. Kentucky sinks everything into basketball as does Alabama into football.

I don't know if LSU will ever be dominant in Men's basketball. Too many other rich schools entraining all of the elite talent. Might just have to accept that LSU will be a once in a blue moon type program in hoops.

I played college basketball at Tulane not going to say when on here, but honestly always wanted to play for the Tigers grew up loving them. They are my second team I always root for and I do follow them closely. I almost cannot stand this forum anymore but people like you keep me coming around no homo. I actually love the direction LSU basketball is going and seeing as I went through years of never going to the dance or even having a shot , I played teams that did and I believe they way basketball is developing CJJ has the right formula. Hated watching Trent ball, know the players didnt like it either. CJJ has had to deal with a lot of stuff he cant control, suspensions, Godfrey not making it, injuries, a lack of fan support. My rant for the night

I'm not sure JOB3 has shown he's very talented, but he was highly rated for what that's worth.

But to your point, I agree CJJ is not getting the best out of at best a mediocre hand inherited.

He's gonna get the talent in. He's come at the right time for that. As I said earlier his son plays at U-High and they are loaded with college level future talent.

But again, that does not excuse this crap. And it makes one wonder if we'll get the best of the talent we do get in.

Let's see if he can make any progress this year. Can't get worse.

Something discussed in another thread.

I don't think anyone expected a miracle this year, but think most expected a little better than we see. Hard to be rough on a first year guy though.

This is asinine. Good thing the university of Florida didn't just "accept" their fate as far as their basketball program was concerned 17 years ago. No reason LSU can't have a program like UF. Just gotta find the right guy to lead the way. Is Johnny Jones that guy? We don't know yet. But this "we should just accept it" stuff is bullshite.

30, I love LSU hoops with a passion that I really sometimes wish I did not because it's so painful.

I like Johnny as a person. He is still to this day one of my brother-in-law's best friends. I've been to tip-off club functions this year. I went to his first coaches show at T.J. Ribs and talked to him about basketball and other things.

I want him badly to succeed.

And he will get the players in here. Because 1) he can recruit and 2) he's coming at the right time with in state talent and some fortunate circumstances.

But I care to much to cover this turd. He'll get more than a fair shake from me to make this work.

But I will not rationalize underperformance. Let's hope he can start to get the best out of this year's crew so at least we have something from this year to hang our hat on besides recruiting.

There are 14 regular season games left and the SEC tournament.

It's not like they went and swung for the fence on that hire it just worked out incredibly well.

I would still think that if our coaching search began in March instead of April, there would have been a better chance at someone who may have been better.

This. Right now, JOB3 has had Magnum Rolle level production. He should never dribble with his back to the basket and only once facing. 6 doubles doubles in 50 games isn't professional caliber. Why every announcer feels the need to make it seem like he's great is beyond me.

Hickey is a good player, but he should be taking half as many shots.

It's just not fixable with this cast. We should only have 55 or 2 on the court, not both. Same with 1 and 10. We can't have two small guards and two stationary big men. We can defend or execute an offense with those 4 on the floor at the same time. That's what I want to see changed.

That's dumb. Magnum peaked at 4 and 4 at LSU, scored in double figures once.

Johnny was/is better than Trent, and for awhile that was more than enough for most.

Is the the best we could have gotten? Hell, nobody can say that for sure.

I was personally not in favor of the hire from many reasons, and I didn't really change on that to the extent some did early in the process. I thought we could have done better.

But it's done and we will get some talent in here and I think given the circumstances and this staffs recruiting acumen, fairly consistently.

I'm just going to hope for the best and support the team and coache as best I can.

But again, I won't rationalize crap like tonight, as much as I like Johnny personally.

I'd agree with this and I've stated some other things I think could help.

We are what we are but within that reality there is no doubt in my mind we can play better than we have been the last 6 games in particularly.

One thing that kinda ticked me off tonight is that when Georgia went to that match-up zone and it looked like somebody stole everybody's girlfriend out there. Totally lost and clueless.

About the third time down and we still looked like that I thought, hey...maybe call a timeout and give the kids a little chalk talk or something.

That to me was a key stretch cause we had just taken the lead but then wasted 4 possessions waiting for the t.v. timeout and got absolutely nothing on offense and gave them a couple of easy goals in our confusion.
