re: Gators dismantle Mizzou 52-83. Makes LSU's 18 pt loss to FLA seem not too bad!

No you're not...LSU wouldve won if they were. LSU is 0-3.. Auburn beat LSU and USCe in Columbia..

You have a point Garrison until proven otherwise. But I've never know a season where one can judge teams legitimately on 3 conference games.

LSU beat Ole Piss by 25 early in the SEC slate last year, but lost to them by 25 later that year.

My opinion today is that LSU has underperformed the last 5 games. Until and unless we show that by performing better on the court it will be just that, my opinion.

Time usually accurately reveals these things.

Of course we could either underperform all year or maybe we're just worse than I thought.

Someone on here went to a North Texas board and they said CJJ teams play their best ball around conference tourney time. I can't us playing any worse this season than we did in the USCe game

That's at least something we can hope for this year I guess 96. I'd just as soon not wait that late to start playing our best ball though. Cause I ain't buying that what we've seen the last 5 games is the best this team can bring before the SEC tournament starts.

Y'all are being nice to the OP because she is a girl. The original post is ridiculous, at the very least. An 18 point loss is an 18 point loss. Playing the "comparative scores game" is pointless. We need to beat the dumpster fire known as Georgia before we claim an 18 point home loss as a moral victory and before we worry about what might happen vs Missouri.

I s'pose I should made have my post more factual since I guess it was taken as just an expression of hope based upon scores. I thought it implied that since I actually WATCHED the Mizzou - Florida game I might've seen things that made me think we could beat 'em

My "girlish" optimism was based upon watching a Florida team playing the same game they played against LSU, decimate the Mizzou defense in the process.
Missouri was missing a player to be sure, but you can't pin a 31pt loss on one player.
So take the point differential away from the equation for a minute, and see if you can get this point:
We played better than Mizzou did against that opponent. Our game was better than Mizzou's, we defended better (especially in the 1st half) their defence was sluggish and looked shell-shocked. Evidently Pressey can be doubled teamed out of effectiveness as a scorer and forced to turnover leading to baskets. Therefore we might have a chance to beat Misssouri.
My point is not just a score comparison, Mizzou simply played badly against Florida. We looked better against Florida. Ergo we might look good against Missouri. Can you grasp that logic? The score therefore reflected that. I thought it was a fair deduction to make.

It's obvious we have to prove we can play by beating Georgia tonight, and should have won both of our other SEC games. But I took the WAY Mizzou played today as a sign of hope for LSU.

And of course I'm eternal optimist!
And I don't apologize for that.

I'm almost scared to watch today from fear that we'll lay another egg. But I'll still watch with hope we can start the road to playing better ball starting today.

Me too. Am holding my breath.

JJ will make close games exciting to the end, especially in the last two minutes. Sometimes it works, and sometimes like last night, it doesn't. You won't be bored.

Keep telling urself that LSU is better.

We are, we just played an awful game missing wide open 3's and wide open layups left and right. Auburn was lucky to come away with just a 2 possession win at your own place. Nothing Auburn did impressed me one bit, we just played awful. Unfortunately we've chosen the worst time to play our worst basketball as well.

You got that right! I was very frustrated at the game Wednesday night, and my husbanded wanted to kick the dog when we got back.

Gotta believe they'll win tonight. They're so capable.

We really have, we shite the bed on two winnable games.

I feel pretty confident that we've yet to play our best basketball. At least I sure hope so, because I'll be honest...there really hasn't been a game this year where I've left saying "man I think we got just about the best we could've from our kids tonght".

I like the up-tempo, but that's a no-brainer with this team. I like the ball pressure at times. But lot's of room for improvement. It would be good to start seeing it tonight.

Florida would have probably beaten LSU by 40 at Florida. Location matters.

That is the most flawed attempt at logic I have ever seen.

Try this logic...

Florida beat Georgia by 30+
Florida beat us by 18
Georgia beat us by 9
We are not very good.

No one gives a frick about Auburn either.

Auburn is the one fan base in the SEC more apathetic about basketball than LSU fans.

Georgia is right about at the same level. As ambivalent as most of the rest of the conference is about hoops, I would say the rest still care more than the above mentioned 3.

Maybe worse...there couldn't have been 2500 people at that game tonight.
