No, I do. Let's take some interceptions away while were here. Or some passing TD's, its not like we had many of those.

ETA: Take Beckham's 2 TD'S out and he averaged exactly 0 for the year.

What we're trying to say is that his 8 yards per carry is very inflated and it happened against Towson. You can't logically expect him to get 8 yards a carry if he gets the ball about a 100 times against SEC competition

big runs factored into his average every year, and most were when he had open lanes to run through, if he could've developed a little juke, he'd have been a bigger force.

I get that, and I dont think anyone expected him to average 8 a carry against SEC competition. But I still dont think it's fair to take away stats like they never happened. I feel like he always had one big run to set his average off.

True. But mainly when the blocking is spot on and he has a good hole to run through. He's strong enough to take a hit and can make some moves, but he's not a super athlete or an amazing runner. He almost got chased down by the Towson player and by Mark Barron, who runs a 4.5. Nothing against him. I think he's a good player, but the hype behind him is too much. We had 2-3 runningbacks who are better runners and probably faster than him. We also had several receivers with better hands. NO way in hell the coaches would have kept him off the field on purpose

I totally agree with this, but still would have liked to see him involved more. I think part of his problem was he needed to be in an Urban Meyer type offense and not a Les Miles type.

Haven't we done Shep to death? He will not make it in the NFL. With all of his speed and elusiveness, why didn't he return kicks of punts? Answer: he lacked physicality. As a receiver, he struggled getting off the line, and his hands were not reliable; the kid should have gone to a place like Georgia Tech where they ran the option. He was not good enough to start at LSU which lacked quality receivers; do you think he can make it in the NFL?

Right

But are you judging everyone else's YPC and stats only against SEC teams?

Why not?

And the counter to that is with that few of carries, when you get stuffed a couple of times for a loss it's also going to drive down your average really quickly.

Poor guy couldn't catch a cold..that was his real problem. Whenever he did make a catch..he would fall down in the process.

He really could have been a Percy Harvin type player...but he just wasn't a natural WR

Also he only had 20 carries

Sure he might not break off another 78 yarder all season

But he might break off a few 20 and 30 yard gains here and there

In fact you'd expect him to as an inevitability

The fact that you guys are acting like the 4.4 YPC somehow proves he sucks (over a whopping sample size of 19 carries) makes you guys just as ridiculous as the people touting the 8.1 YPC as meaningful.

And by the fricking way you morons, that's still a half a yard better YPC than Spencer Ware who thinks enough of himself to be bolting early for the NFL.

maybe should have gone to a La Tech or somewhere like that where he could have broken into the starting lineup as a WR early in his college career. He wasn't under utilized at LSU, just had such a long way to go to develop and he did make hugh strides at LSU. If he would have gone to a smaller school he could have gotton the reps he needed to develope into a top notch reciever.

Percy Harvin wouldn't have been Percy Harvin under Miles. We lack creativity and the complexity to scheme for Harvin if he was here. I'm guessing similar comments would be made about his short comings if he were a tiger despite obvious talent as we continued to pull the wool over our eyes.

Sure, with great blocking. Wouldn't you rather see Hill get the carry and take it to the house.

Never said he sucks, just that other players on the team are better, especially at running back.

Just as dumb for you to compare two different situations. Not even close to the same running style and/or package when used on offense. Plus Ware is a better blocker and probably has better hands too

Ford is the only one with a prayer of beating Shep in the 40. Blue is a high 4.5/low 4.6 guy.
