I'm not fretting too much but this ammo rush is annoying.

I don't think steel shot is sold out due to the ammo rush. Every store I have been to in Louisiana or Texas lately has a lot except some of the Academy's which tend to sell out due to being late season. You might try another outfitter in the area.

Oh I know it was funny watching the other 5 guys in the ammo isle look pissed as well.

Too bad we don't have tons of geese. LA ammo stores always have an awesome selection of BB and BBB

It takes an act of congress to find a box of 2.75" #4 or #2 once duck season opens.

Pretty typical for late season. Has happened to me many times.

This is why you should buy by the case.

To avoid getting screwed like this, but also, a lot of shooting has to do with using the same loads and getting comfortable with how they shoot.

It's probably been ten years since I have bought steel/non-toxic shot in less than a case. Not only is the price better, but I tend to shoot the same loads every year out of my guns because I know what works best for what kind of shooting I do. Picked up a couple of cases of 3" #2 Hevi Metal this season for $169 per case and have liked the results so far.

I went to buy a case of 3in #2 blindside the other day and the lady at the counter scanned the barcode and it came out at $28.99.

Obviously it was entered in the computer wrong but that didnt stop me from getting a few more cases!!

I would shoot BB over #6 as well.

However, you're not totally screwed. You just can't take any long or high shots (which can be common this time of the year). Make sure they're in range and make sure you're putting the right lead on them. Shooting them in the butt is not going to bring them down.

If I were you I'd see if I could buy a couple boxes from a member on here.

Leave the #6 shot for dove hunting.
