Will a local store order me a S&W M&P Shield?

I want to buy at Bass Pro because I have a $200 gift card, but when I went to inquire about ordering it the guy shrugged his shoulders and said he could put me on "the list." He said it could be 5 or 6 months before they get any. I know they're pretty hard to find, but that's ridiculous.

Should I try to go back when someone more helpful is working or forget them and try a local store?

do not buy that gun. I freaking hated my buddies new one he just bought. .40 cal and couldn't hit a posted sign from 30 yards out with it to save my life.
It was that bad.

Bass Pro's customer service sucks in general. I would try and get it local from another pawn/gun shop, it will most likely be cheaper somewhere else.

I don't think it's too hard to find any Glock's. They have kept up pretty well it seems.

Arent you in Shreveport? Any ffl dealer can order a gun, but the way things are right now you can order it and have it shiipped to the ffl dealer for a tranfer fee.

The Bass Pro guy tried to sell me a Springfield XDS .45 that I just didn't care for. My previous pistol was a Beretta 92 FS - they had plenty of those in stock as well, and some PX4's.

I'm looking for something small enough to carry or keep in the glove box, but also something fun to shoot occasionally - which is why I ruled out the .380 P238 and other little .380's. I may just get the smaller Citadel 1911 and customize it along the way - I can't spend HK money right now.

As far as I can tell: it's new and they just haven't ramped up production to keep up with demand.

This gun craze in general has me pissed off. I went to the gun show last weekend and I wanted to slap every one of those dealers in the face.

I tried at Jim's Firearms but they told me no, because they don't know when they will have them again.

Because single-stack CC handguns are becoming more popular as people are seeing that gun laws won't stop criminals but a concealed handgun will.

But in all honesty, with the success of its M&P line, they felt introducing a single-stack 9mm/40 in the same basic design was a smart choice. They proved that it was because it has been in high demand for almost a year now.

And Meauxjeaux, the gun is designed for up close and personal defense interactions. If you want to hit a sign at 30 yards, get a 6" 357 magnum.

I looked at the Xds 45 the other day, that thing is unbelievably thin and would make a great CC gun.

The only thing I'm not crazy about is the lack of rounds in a single-stack, subcompact 45 ACP. It's only 5+1.

But lucky for you, they just released their XDs 9mm at SHOT show this week. So be on the lookout if you want one because I guarantee they will be flying off shelves.

I believe 7+1 or 9+1

EDIT: Depending on flush fit or extended magazine.
