| Gun Rights Question (Posted on 1/18/13 at 11:39 am)
Do you believe that a citizen should be able to own/purchase the following items without a special tax or discriminatory background check: 1. A semi-automatic rifle 2. A burst or automatic rifle 3. A belt fed machine gun 4. Semi automatic handguns 5. Fully automatic handguns 6. Non-nuclear explosives of any type TIA for your opinions

Lucy says she wants machine guns mounted on the front of her 350 Z so she can blast bad drivers. I told her it's not legal.

You already have a license. It's called the second amendment.

I don't care if it's modified. The second amendment guarantees an inalienable right. Imo, disallowing a felon to own a firearm after his sentence and parole/probation is over is unconsitutional as well. I'm not saying I enjoy the idea of them having legal access to firearms, I'm just saying it is in violation of the 2nd imo.

To those who answered that they would like background checks and taxes for the legal purchase of an automatic weapon. would the primary purpose be to: 1. limit the availability of the weapon to the general populace 2. determine who is fit to possess said weapon 3. register the weapons location and owner 4. Ensure the safety of those without a similar weapon 5. insert you own option here To those who answered YES to all questions: Do you feel it is a constitutionally protected right to own fully automatic firearms? What in your opinion is the purpose of such a piece of legislation?

Yes The 2nd doesn't differentiate and can't predict future firearm innovations. It certainly doesn't restrict some weapons to use only by LEO/Military

The original intent of the 2nd amendment?

Semi-auto of either type? Yes. Full-auto? Should be some red tape to get through. Explosives? Nah. Why? I don't understand the explosives angle or where it is leading the question.

There is no liberal trap.

Explosives probably represent the highest power armament that a militia might be able to develop and maintain.

Could you elaborate on this point?
