Not Good Enough???
Not sure why after 2 promotions and keeping above the relegation group right now.
If Pochettino gets a W in his first match it will blow up the TD Survivor Pool though.

Southampton is a fun team to watch. They are not that bad either.

I feel bad for the guy. Took him 30 something months to move up 2 leagues and they sack him after a short run of poor form. Unbelievable.

It's odd because they've been playing fairly well. They haven't lost in five premier league games (only 7 points from those 5 but still that's not bad) and have draws at Stoke and Chelsea during that run.

I didn't read the article posted in this thread but according to something else I read they've been kind of thinking about making a change (to get a "premier league level manager") since they were promoted.

See, Rafa is so bad managers of far less talented teams get fired when they only manage away draws against him.

This is so stupid. Only 6 teams have scored more goals than them this year. In their last 12 games they have 4W (QPR, Newcastle, Reading, Villa), 2L (Pool, Sunderland) and 6 draws (Swansea, Norwich, Fulham, Stoke, Arsenal, Chelsea) for 18 points. 18 in 12 is pretty good for a team with this talent and they are pretty entertaining as well. This is the type of crap that will make me actively root against them. Dance with the one that brung ya.

Absolutely absurd decision by the Saints administration.

I would have sworn that Adkins was managing his way into a bigger job. My gut tells me he'll be employed again in no time.

Anyone think they sacked him in anticipation that he would leave for a better club? That's the only semi-decent reason I can think of, and I think it's pretty dumb.

I don't even know if that's a semi-decent reason. Not knocking you at all, but if that was their line of thought...wow.

Yeah is that like the guy who outkicks his coverage with his girlfriend so he breaks up with her before she can leave him?

I really should have edited that sentence. You can see I contradicted myself at the end by saying how dumb that would be.

I'm probably spending too much time trying to make sense of a horribly idiotic decision. So I'll just leave it at that.

Agreed. To me, there's nothing embarrassing about losing a manager in the offseason to a bigger club due to good performance. It's bound to happen. But, that would mean that the club did well in the prior season and that ownership should be able to attract respectable candidates to fill the position.

He must've got fired over his lack of cartoon nose drawing skills.

This is pretty shitty cause they have a very nice academy and are very aesthetically pleasing. Hope he lands a job at a bigger club.
