But you don't know that it will project proportionally for the worst, correct? Look, I understand that he's not DRose or whoever else was on that list..but he was still the 9th overall pick in the draft, came out of college early so is still young, FT% around 90%, loves to push the fast break, knows how to throw the lob...And he's from NOLA for Lawds Sake!
It's how the NBA works, guys take time to develop and if you're a small market team like we are, you have to take these chances and hope you find a diamond in the rough that doesn't break the bank.
Some of you on here are from Nola, don't you remember watching him play?! He was miles ahead of the competition and even at Texas, by his second year he was producing daily. Now its the NBA which will take a little longer..its the end of year 4 which is make or break time for him. If we give him the chance to play in his hometown and let him play his game (push the rock, finish in transition, find the open shooter, manage the game), it could pay a solid return on your SMALL investment.
And if it doesn't, we're not broke.

he just hasn't been good....we could make a SMALL investment on a player with a little more promise

in terms of fit and money, Vasquez is the best option.
surprised Rubio hasnt gotten more love. hes still on a rookie contract. Obviously the injury is an issue, but he was fantastic last year. He could be a better version (better vision, ballhandling, passing, and defense) of Vasquez if he learns how to shoot like Vasquez has.

Yea man, he hasn't been good because he doesn't get to play. Kinda hard to score and dish from the bench. And who exactly would you make a SMALL investment on right now at the PG position? Here's a small list that some people mentioned on here..
Greivis Vasquez (continue to roll with him)
Avery Bradley
Tyreke Evans
Eric Bledsoe
Rodrigue Beaubois
Kyle Lowry
Jeff Teague
Brandon Jennings
etc..
But most of these guys as well as their current employer are going to want more than a SMALL investment. And its bc they've already been locked up (the gem has already been found in the rough) by their current team which means you'd have to trade AND pay for them which is not what we want to do. he played 34 and 29 MPG in back to back seasons for Charlotte in 2011 and 2012....he doesn't get to play because he isn't good, not the other way around.
shot 42% and 38% from the field in those seasons, respectively...horrible.

Dude its the NBA, 42% and 38% in the guy's second and third year in the league isn't bad at all. I mean whatya want him to do? Shoot 55% from the field?! Go look at Kyle Lowry's first few years in the league..could definitely make a case that they were basically the same statistical player in their first few years in the league. And please don't use the stat of Lowry shooting 47.5% from the field in his third year..he only averaged 7 pts/gm and only shot it 162 while DJ took 958 shots with a FG percentage of 42%. That's much better on DJ's part. They're both 6ft tall, DJ has a much better FT%, and DJ is on an expiring contract this season.

So far, you've extrapolated a player's numbers if he played 48 minutes/game and brought up that he looked better than his high school competition. Consider me not convinced.

sure...some players put up some similar stats in random seasons in the nba...the thing is: some players have what it takes to make it in the nba, and some don't ....even some of the ones that were good in college

So you aren't going to acknowledge the fact that DJ is shooting 32% from the field this year? Trevor fricking Ariza has a higher FG% than that. You are vastly overrating him strictly because he's a local guy.
