If I had to list a pro team as favorite, it would be them. Ray's last year, gotta go all out.

Not really. If he is, we resign him at a higher number befitting a top 12 PG. If he isn't, we pick up the option.

This is the answer to the question, "who would you take?"

I dont think he would've listed all these names if he was talking about a money standpoint.

Sounds like he's talking talent.

quote:

Chris Paul
Russell Westbrook
Derrick Rose
Kyrie Irving
Damon Lillard
Jrue Holiday
Stephen Curry
Rajon Rondo
Deron Williams? (If he wasn't such an arse, he'd be a vagina)

Debatable
Ricky Rubio Meh (i like GV's size and scoring and consistency)
Brandon Jennings?
John Wall
Eric Bledsoe
Jeremy Lin

Its okay to talk about both guys. You can talk talent angle and you can talk financial perspective. Geesh.

Well given our money situation and the need at other positions, I wouldn't take any of those guys over Vazquez.

If you're asking who would I take straight up, all things being equal, there are a lot of guys Id take over him.

Any PG in the NBA. Paul makes $18mil, Rose $16, Westbrook $13.

GV's contract will allow us to get better elsewhere. He's adequate enough for now.

I can't wait for someone else to reply with some thoughtless iteration of lol.

Based on what I've read, it seems like the discussion involves talent as well as contract. Of course there are a lot of point guards more talented than GV, but I've gotta think that he is at the best value out of any point guard in the league. I'd rather keep him for less money than pay a lot for someone like a Paul or Rondo, and then use the extra money to put talent in other spots.

I don't even see why we're asking that like upgrading the PG means Vasquez has to go. I think the presumption is that Vasquez would eventually be too expensive to keep as a backup if you got an upgrade but I don't think that's the case at all. The $8 - $10 million point guards were either still young and unproven enough to have an elite ceiling like Dragic, had already proven they were a top talent like Curry, or had already proven they could lead the team they were on to the playoffs like Lawson.

Vasquez doesn't check any of those boxes. He is a flawed player that will be 27.5 years old when he's an RFA. He'll have an actual track record as a starter and he has shown that he can lead a bad team to more ping pong balls, you just don't want him to be the best guard on your team. That's not to say there aren't bad GMs in the league, but I just think Vasquez' age and physical limitations would prevent him from being much more than an MLE guy. Teams were after Dragic hoping he could be a core piece, Vasquez is not a core piece, he's a complimentary piece.

We wouldn't need talent in other spots with Chris Paul. Put Chris Paul with Gordon and this is a top 3 seed.
