and gun manufactors/ sellers should love President Obama. I can't think of a President that has help sell more guns in less than 5 years than Obama.

I was thinking about this the other day when I was at Academy Sports and saw how empty the gun section was. The man can flat out sell guns and ammo!

they were actually doing perfectly fine before all of this nonsense. It wasn't odd for a smaller gun company to have a waitlist of 6+ months and some over 2 years

Yeah, but when you purchase a gun you get the little NRA membership pamphlet with it. Would be interesting to see how much it's membership has grown.

My friend just bought a rifle. No NRA pamphlet came with it. My other friend bought a pistol. No NRA pamphlet came with it

Weird. I thought that was pretty much standard.

Are the backorders really that bad? Just with the "assault weapons" or with all guns now? I really can't just walk in a gun retailer and buy and handgun nowadays?

If there were anything, I'd like to see training advertised and "pushed" onto first-time buyers when they bought a gun. Something like advertising local shooting ranges and trainers. I have had to tell so many people, "Do you want me to point my gun at you too?" it is hard to believe. A lot of people have no idea what they are doing. It's kind of like,"I wonder what this button does". I hate being around those types of people. Shit, I went shooting with my stepdad the other day and he loaded spent casings into his gun and tried to fire them. I ended up getting him 5hrs of training for Christmas just based on that fact. People should not have to be around someone who knows that little about handling firearms. I wouldn't require anyone to do it, but strongly encourage them to do so.quote:

Right now, they are way worse than you think. 98% of the manufacturers and sellers will not have any guns or ammo for the foreseeable future. The shelves are completely empty except for shotgun shells. You cannot just walk in and buy a pistol. There is a waiting period where they clear you with the ATF

Good work. I would suggest you get into more advanced stuff afterwards like home invasion or maybe some hostage situations to boost your adrenaline while learning. Also, go to multiple instructors around your area. You will be able to pick up little things from each one My dad has been shooting for 50 out of his 55 years and still takes classes at least 10 times a year. Hell, he is doing Krav Maga on top of that.

I actually got lucky last night at Academy. I bought a Springfield M1A Scout recently and I haven't been able to get ammo for it until last night. I walked right into the store during a fairly quiet period when they got a shipment of ammo in. I picked up two boxes of .308 and was out of the door. My neighbor who works there told me that 30 minutes later the ammo vultures came in and cleaned them out again.

Wonder who these buyers are? I get the impression the board thinks it is free Americans buying it up in order to take down the government if need be, but could there be another purchaser?

I think it's just people freaked out and they think some kind of ammo ban is going to occur and they are stocking up. Another thing I noted last night, was that I'm glad I am a Beretta fan. Every magazine is gone except for all of the Beretta stuff. I also picked a 17 round mag for my PX4 .40 cal while I was there. I also notice online a lot of Beretta mags are readily available. 1911 stuff however, not so much, nor is there any available for any kind of other popular semi-auto hand gun.

People are hoarding AR parts. The black market will be huge should they get banned again.
