Where do y'all store your ammo?

Somebody at work today said not to keep ammo in the safe. He said if there's a fire & enough heat builds up, they could explode & destroy the contents of safe. Any truth to that? My safe is fire rated for an hour I think. And if not there, the garage, closet? TIA

I would think if the safe gets hot enough for the ammo to go off then the guns would probably be pretty close behind without the ammo there.

In a big Tupperware full of saltwater.
But really I keep most of them in a sealed food saver bag in my bug out bag.

The military stores ammo in all kinds of crazy places with no ill effects.
I seriously doubt the inside of a safe in your home would ever get so hot to cause ammo to explode. Unless of course you live in a furnace.

bullets wont explode that why they are a 1.4 Hazard Class. They burn.

I did not think they would, but I was wrong.
it does not send the bullet like it does in a rifle but chunks of it and pieces of brass blow everywhere. And they are hot.

Dude that really sucks, I'd be pissed/depressed for a while. Why was all your ammo on a boat? Houseboat?

There is gun powder so it is considered an explosive but the fragments will be confined to the package They wont produce any thing with size or range. If it did, it would be a 1.3

I just bought a safe and plan to use it to put my guns and extra ammo in.
