If you rank Louisiana guys LSU pursued above Louisiana guys LSU did not pursue, you're probably going to get more right than wrong.

I have no problem with Michael Patterson above Tim Williams.

Well why did Thunderbird write...."Yeah but drop from #1 to #11? No way"?

Pretty sure Williams was #1 to start out

Patterson is bigger and more athletic, but Williams has better moves.

The biggest knock on Williams outside of the "issues" is he is tiny right now (Also, many would argue takes too many plays off). At the UA Game he was "by far" the smallest DE there, including guys listed under 230 like Beckwith. One guy said he would be surprised if he was much over 200 pounds. Was built like a WR.

Mike S does some pathetic shite on his site. Williams falling that low plus being behind tevin Lawson beyond pathetic.

I cant figure thsi out. The state ranking are useless if the national numbers are different.

No... It's when the local guys disagree with the national guys, but I agree Tim Williams is unfairly too low.

Patterson is way more advanced in using his hands and fighting off blockers than Williams. I like Williams but watched a few of his games this year and he was very lackluster especially for a preseason #1. 8-10 spot is about right for him IMO, the kid is going to have to gain some weight and work a lot harder for Saban. The sky is the limit for him in the 3-4 at Bama if he takes advantage of all his opportunities.

I agree falling behind Lawson seems homerish to me.

You do have to include Williams's baggage in the evaluation. Must consider character.

I personally don't have a problem with these rankings. The guy that did these rankings watched film, went to games, watched film of them at different all-star games. Basically, did his research before making that list. Notice that he didn't change the recruiting ranks last year when LC chose Bama and kept TD at number 2 last year even though he chose Texas. In 2010, he accurately had TM, Tharold Simon, Alfred Blue and Eric Reid, just to name a few, ahead of Trovon Reed. I don't think this has as much to do with him not wanting to rank guys that don't choose to LSU ahead of guys that do as much as it is he actually does some research and decides based off of that. To those that would say that the National Rankings mean more, I would say that is absolutely wrong. That is like saying a guy that writes up a review of Capital One Bank as a whole knows more about my local bank than the guy that writes up a review about my local bank. You might not agree with his review, but I would trust his over the national one any day of the week.

Couldn't have said it better myself. The national guys do a horrible job scouting Louisiana and I'll take Mike's evaluations over that any day. He actually watches all the film and goes to the games. Seeing both, I'll take Patterson over Williams any day. Oh and if Tredavious White doesn't get a 5th star on rivals it's BS. What's worse is White isn't even in the Top 300 on ESPN.

I agree. But I have no problem with any list that includes him in the top 10.

FWIW: Rivals has Diarse #10, Patterson #15, and Jones #22.

Tigerbait's list is more accurate than Rivals'.

FWIW, Tim Williams measured in at 6'3" 228 pounds during the UA Game.

But I'll trust your judgement that he looked like a WR.

I watched the D-line drills and he looked downright frail. But he definitely has talent and is strong for his size. He has a lot of upside and I definitely wouldn't have minded LSU taking him.

But, but Miles is losing hold of the state. I mean we lost Landon Collins last year!
