If the Caps miss, it will be their own damn fault. You dig yourself an 2-8-1 hole to start the year and you can't complain about what happens to you. But the Caps have generally played well against bad teams and gotten killed by the top teams (which somehow includes the Leafs -- I just don't understand the world anymore).

Also, the Caps are an entirely different team with Laich and Green. I like Carlson a lot, but if you have to choose a QB for your power play, you take Green every day and twice on Sunday. And Laich is the team's heart and soul (I think he should wear the C) and his absence has meant that there's been a gaping hole at LW opposite Ovie. Know who has been Ovie's most common linemate on that wing? Matt Hendricks. That's like pairing Crosby with Matt Cooke.

Well I have given the Caps a great deal of thought (which normally I wouldn't as the Leafs are pretty much out of playoff contention at this point) and I agree with your assessment Baloo, fact is if they didn't play the first 10 games like that they probably would be sitting where the Leafs are...(6th in the conference)I want to see if the Caps make the playoffs with little to no expectation of advancement how they do...In a way they would be like the Leafs, just when nobody expects shite from them, they exceed expectations...Ovie seems to be getting hot at the right time which may be just whats required to pop into the 8 spot...in any case the Leafs prolly lose against Bruins tonight IMHO...

I actually think the Caps have a better shot at 3rd than 8th. The Southeast is terrible.

The Capitals and Jets are the only SE division teams that have not lost their starting goalie to injury. Canes and Panthers lost their top two.

As for tonight, no Letang or Malkin vs Flyers, really thought both would return tonight, Letang for sure.
