I'm really liking our team this year. Getting a lot of enjoyment in how we play. Don't know how well it will translate to the standings at the end of the year because there just is no top-notch offensive talent on the roster, but the D is very good, Bob seems like he found a franchise where he fits, and there seems like there will be tons of effort and lots of heart. Good stuff, overall.

Short season Jackets, maybe a playoff run in store. It would be nice for the city.

Bob can look good for a 3 game stretch and then look absolutely atrocious for the next 5. Too many soft goals. I hope he does well in Columbus though!

Bouwmeester has been on ice for 7 of 9 goals against Calgary this season, including 4 goals last night all at even strength.

So happy the Flames chose to sign him and ship out Phaneuf and Regher to make space for his massive cap hit.

Just ordered the NHL Center Ice package - had to go get a new box as well because my old box couldn't handle it I guess. Triple the DVR space for all of the hockey it can handle!

Detroit signs Kent Huskins to a one year deal.

Detroit has 7 players that are hurt for tonight's game.

Hockey fan NooB here with a question about the Stars since that is who I started following when I moved to Texas just before the start of last season. I am reading that they are pretty close to finally signing Jamie Benn. My question is how often is it that an NHL team doesnt have one of their best players signed before the start of the regular season? Does this occasionally happen in hockey or is this a pretty rare occurance that a team's possible best player isnt signed by the first regular season game?

In comparison with the NFL: There are hold outs or unsigned players every season and sometimes that player will sit out training camp and some preseason games; however, they'll typically work out the contract issue & sign before the regular season actually starts.

It's fairly rare. Benn (and Subban in Montreal) have fairly unique holdouts. I'm not sure what Been wants other than "out of Dallas".

Gotcha. Thanks! I was thinking this is probably rare and may be just a product of the two sides not being able to negotiate because of the lockout, so its carrying over longer than it usually would.

hurt

Colaiacovo is made of glass. He was hurt multiple times a year every year he was in St Louis. Some of its was just bad luck but some of it is him just being a big baby. I know the Wings are thin on the blue line but not sure Cola was the answer.

Matt Hendricks, 1-0 Caps. I like the Gomez signing for the Sharks. He's a great fit on the third or fourth line. He can still play defense.

Wow, that was terrible. The wings are announcing their 2013 team and started by calling out the players that are hurt. They had to have named about 10 players.
