Polizei, I currently have chase freedom, should I move up to the sapphire? I have a personal freedom card, and a joint one where the wife and I put all household items/bills on it. We collect close to $1,000/yr in cash rewards. The only thing I can see I will be losing is the 5% bonus categories.

Well, the Sapphire Preferred gives rewards in points versus Freedom's Cash back.

For Sapphire Preferred, you can exchange 100 points for $10 so 10 pt/$. I'm not sure you maximize the 5% cash back on select categories each month of each quarter.

The Sapphire Preferred is great for the one time bonus then fades if you do not get the annual fee waived (which I hope to). If you want the best rewards card for the long term, Capital One Venture is the best. I went with Sapphire for the initial 40,000 bonus points and since I dine out quite a bit. The Rewards Mall is also amazing for bonus points.

Filter for Rewards Cards. Under each card, there is an Annual Savings Column with a Green Calculator. Click the calculator and input your data. It will give you a better idea of how much you will save each year with that card.

When comparing the Chase Sapphire against Capital One Venture, what's sticking out to me with Chase is the 1:1 point transfer to participating frequent travel programs.

We normally fly Southwest and I noticed something very intesting when you use the SW RR points. If I chose to go with the Venture card, I would need to use alot more points vs the Sapphire. For example, if a Southwest flight cost $130 I would need to use 13,000 points. Now that same flight point wise for Southwest "Wanna Get Away" price will be around 6,800 points. With Saphhire's 1:1 correlation with frequent travel programs that means I would use much less to secure the same flight. Plus, one can realize a 20% discount when booking a flight in their Ulitmate Rewards site.

I'm still torn about which one to choose. At first I thought the Venture Card was the optimal choice, but now as I do more research it seems like the Sapphire is a better choice.

A good point I forgot to mention. Swapping points to Southwest and United can leading to using less of your points.

I'm fairly sure that Sapphire Preferred is better than the Venture Card if you are conscious of ways to get more value out of your points and to exploit the Rewards mall.

And it's a badass metal card.

Does the Chase Sapphire Preferred have a listed credit limit anywhere or is it on an individual basis?
