What skillet should I buy for everyday cooking?

cast iron, I also have all clad stainless but use them about 1/10th of what I use my cast iron

I would also recommend the cast iron. I use it EVERY single day. It's very versatile. It's hard to beat in terms of heat distribution.

Cast Iron, Enameled Cast Iron, and 1 good Non-Stick used only for eggs.
The cast iron will be the most versatile for everyday cooking and will take a beating. It is the one kitchen utensil that improves with age and use. The enameled cast iron is also very durable and more forgiving with sauces and the like. One good non-stick for your eggs or crepes and you should be good. Never underestimate the value of an electric griddle either- a Bacon and Pancake machine.
