the best coaches in college football

In no particular order
Saban
Muschamp
Peterson
Stoops
Sumlin
Kelly (ND)
Kelly (Oregon)
Miles
Richt (?)
Petrino
Strong
Who believes that any of these coaches would leave their current job and come to LSU. I do not, and there is not many after these guys that we would want. At the end of the day, Miles has done well, and I think he will continue to do well.
His play calling is sometimes suspect, but he brings the best talent around to play for him. There is a reason.

Saban has just had a lucky last 5 years.

Briles is better than 5 of those. Have to have there. Also Bill O'Brien as well. Yes it's only 1 season but not a single coach would have done what he did. And ummmm Urban Meyer?

The slime that is Petrino would ooze himself over here, but LSU would have to have a generation of losing seasons before they took a chance on him.
Strong would maybe come if we doubled his salary.
0% chance for any of the rest.

Would take Petrino's offense with Chief"s defense any day over Miles

You act like PSU didn't have any talent. They lost four games with a very talented roster. He didn't work miracles.

No he actually did work a miracle. He kept most of his stars and got them to play despite all the distractions. He did the best anybody would have done.

The next "great" coaches are Strong and Fitzgerald.

Why do you like Fitzgerald? Curious, after looking at his record. Is Northwestern a terrible job?

Northwestern is a terrible job...........and the dude can coach........he is winning at a NOTORIOUSLY PERENNIAL Journalism school.
Their best record ever was 10-2 and he was the reason playing LB.........their school has only like 8 or 9 seasons where they ended the season ranked IN THEIR HISTORY.

I agree with spurrier, but he is not long for coaching. If he wins the East, he is gone, and Meyer should be in there as well-but he would never come to death valley.....
