I recenly tried ZAYA from Trindad. I have been drinking rum for 30 years and this is by far the best rum I have ever tasted. Straight up on the rocks is the best way to drink.

Anyone read the bio on Louisiana Spirits?

quote:

It started with an idea that came out of a duck blind conversation near the Lacassine Wildlife Refuge and some local sugar cane fields. Since Louisiana is the birthplace of sugar cane farming in the "new world," is the home of the biggest Mardi Gras party in America, has some of the greatest (and spiciest) food on earth and a place where our fiercely loyal citizens live every day to the fullest, we wondered why isn't someone creating a home-grown, high-quality Louisiana rum?

Sounds like my kind of people. I've been meaning to stop by and introduce myself.

As I've gotten older and learned how alcohol was made and realized how much alcohol is consumed down here... it really had me scratching my head as to why there aren't more places making the stuff.

It's a great tidbit of a very nice story.

I see sugar cane daily... is that why I like rum so much?

Thing that gives me a case of the red arse about this new distillery is the area state legislators pushed and successfully amended state law last session to allow liquor manufacturers to sell directly to their consumers, in order to help this plant's business.

However, none have bothered to do the same for any of our local breweries.
