Here we go, some anonymous hack taken shots at a guy he does not even know on an internet message board.

This is a good guy. I grew up with him. High School football is more than about winning and losing, it is about setting kids on the right path in life. I would trust Chris to do that with my kid. He is a good man.

This is the Towery that I know also. He knows his shite too. If the boys in Abbeville buy in, he will be successful. You heard it here first.

And no I am not Towery. Decided this was the perfect time to stop lurking and start posting. Good luck Chris

Steamy Ray

You don't know what you're talking about, bro. Why don't you and Steamy Nix get together and sing us a duet while the adults talk.

I have known Towery for a long time, he is a good guy and would give you the shirt off his back! I'll bet most of you negative posters have never even met him, just going off what someone told you or whatever. He'll be the first one to admit the mistakes he has made, especially at Winnfield. The honesty and lies thing is totally false, he's just the opposite honest to a fault, tells it like he see's it. As far as the funky motion thing, that's inaccurate too, he works with several QB's in the Baton Rouge area, including the last three starters from Central, the two possible starters for Central next year, the starter at Catholic and several others in the Baton Rouge area. The Briscoe kid would be the starter at McNeese right now if it wasn't for all the knee injuries. They came to him for some reason? You figure it out. Why get on here and trash the man for something that happened 6 years ago? He know's the things he did wrong and he accepts that he made mistakes. Leave it alone!

I don't know why your addressing me with that rant I was very diplomatic in my views of Towery and left some of my other opinions of him off the post because they are not needed for someone who is getting a fresh start. The funky throwing motion is not a myth, he had a wall built on the practice field at Winnfield to teach the quick, funky throwing motion while throwing against the wall that is a fact I witnessed many times. When he followed Sid to Central as the OC, I watched a game of the week featuring Central and Briscoe, the announcers even made the comment of "Briscoe having a good arm, but a very awkward throwing motion" and what do you know it was the same motion he taught at Winnfield.

I've backed up your friend's offensive scheme so don't get so butthurt. Hopefully he learned from past coaching stops and gets Abbeville rolling.

I have seen him teach the throwing motion you speak of. It gives the quarterback a good solid set and keeps the elbow up wich allows them to have a quick release which is what you want. Just because it may look different doesn't mean it is wrong. Id take a Briscoe with a weird motion over some scrub who looks just like Tom Brady when he throws.

Jeff Bagwell sure had a weird batting stance, but he made it to the bigs with it and had a pretty good career.

Who have you seen with that motion that plays at a high level Chris?

Overall talent may have a little to do with this! It's not like he had JaMarcus Russell or anything. By the way genius, when Tebow tried to get his motion right for the NFL, go look at some of the drills he did to SHORTEN his motion!

Obviously reading comprehension isn't one of your many talents? Having no talent or personnel was addressed by me genius! Go ahead go back and read its not hard to do. Tebow had to shorten his motion, but you didn't see Tebow quick wrist short arming everything like the qb in Winnfield was taught genius. Sorry your hero isn't perfect not many are.

Come throw the ball with me buddy! Show me how to throw a football! You know who I am and where I am! It's nice to get on a message board and talk about someone, without anyone knowing who you are!

Yeah, his throwing motion sucked! Thats why he has had problems in the NFL! TOO SLOW AND TOO LONG! By the way I think Tebow is great player and man!

Again, I am not Towery. Chris coaches high school quarterbacks so he is trying to get the most out of these players. If he had a high level thrower in high school, i don't think he would try to change them that much. But he has never had that so he tries to get the most of them that he can. Sounds like he's doing his job to me.

I will agree that he has never had good Qbs to work with besides the Briscoe kid I would never argue that. The original post of why he failed at the Winnfield stop was knowing your personnel and adapting to it. The next coach there moved to a heavy running scheme and made the playoffs. Was he a better offensive coach than Towery absolutely not! It seems like you and the original poster can have a rational discussion about it while the other nuthuggers, well they are easy to spot.
