True story. When I was 18 I got up early from the dorm for a 7:50 class. I walked across Centenary's central valley trying to avoid the squirrels that ran up to me asking for a treat.

I went into the cafeteria that opened at 7:30. Just enough time for coffee and a doughnut. I really liked their cream filled doughnuts.

One day my doughnut was not cream filled. I asked the manager "Mr. Williams, do we not have any cream filled doughnuts?"

Him: "We've never had any cream filled doughnuts."

Me: "But I had them for the last 3 days."

Him: "Oh. Sometimes the batter doesn't get cooked all the way. That's what you think is cream."

Taco Bell: tostada and two bean burritos for $2.53 back in my college days. Had it almost every night. Still remember the exact price from 20 years ago.

Taco Bell, Rally's hamburgers and these microwaveable Italian meals. But I ate those more on the weekend.
The Pentagon Cafeteria had pretty decent food when I was a student. During Lent, I get cravings for their fish burgers.

I used a Foreman to grill Hamburger patties. I would then make instant mashed potatoes and a can of corn.

I did a lot of that. I'd rotate chicken and pork chops but basically that. Also Hamburger Helper was a college staple.

$5.35 for the buffet on State Street was a Thursday night tradition starting my freshman year in Kirby Smith. We continued even when we upgraded to some off campus apartments. R2R knows what I'm talking about.

Their hamburgers could rip through your digestive tract with lightening speed. I saw the look of sheer panic one night in a roommate, it could have been a scene from Saw.

I had suitemates in Kirby who would stick containers in their backpacks when they went to Gatti's and walk out with enough pizza for another meal. I'm sure they weren't the only dudes doing that. No wonder the place went out of business.

We never took it to that level. We'd grab a slice or two on the way out the door though.

Ziploks ftw! Had some friends that turned me on to that method. All our silverware came from campus cafeterias also, until my GF bought us some for xmas.

2 am taco bell, Am Mart roast beef with pepper cheese and Louie's Mitchell.
