BTW -- if any Star Wars movie is in the Top 5, I volunteer to write that while Star Wars is a great movie, its influence on the movie industry has been profoundly negative, and perhaps it would have been better had it never been made.

Yeah, there's some incentive to move Star Wars up a tad while you're filling out your ballot.

You go to Hell! You go to Hell and you die!

I'd take on the argument that LOTR is a boring arse trilogy and belongs no where near the top 20, much less 5.

I'm a Batman fanboy, but it will barely make my list if it does at all.

Well, The Lord of the Rings is without question going to be Number 1 on my ballet, so bring it.

40 is a good size. I'll write about any movie I can write about.

50 is daunting. I agree.

But I know I'm going to need a contingency plan for someone who doesn't fill out all 40 slots.

The other big question is if you consider starting your new list from your old list.

I think it will be my reference point, but I'm not sure if that is a mistake. I put a lot of thought into that Top 20.

Ballot Size: 40

if we are doubling the size of the list we should double the size of our ballot seems to make perfect sense to have 40

just looking at my old list, i don't like my top 20

There are movies I had not seen at that point that i think will make it and others i find i don't like as much as i used to. Of course a lot of those will still be on my list, will be interesting.

Should we agree before hand which trilogies should be counted as single entries and which should be multiple? I think Lord of the Rings, Toy Story, Dark Knight, Bourne, and Dollars trilogy should count since they're very consistently good. The other great trilogies like Godfather and Star Wars have a very clear vastly inferior film mixed in it. Then there are films like The Matrix where there's no way in hell it's sequels should even be considered for the list.

I actually have a very specific way I do all of these, I like ot put lots of work into mine. I came to TD.com after the 100 MWADS so I have no top 20 movie list to refer to. Plus sense then there are movies that would be in my top 20 that wouldn't have been back then. Mainly because I have seen more movies back then.
