In 2009 we signed on the DL a 5 star in Chris Davenport, Michael Brockers a 4 star, Josh Downs a 4 star, Sam Montgomery a 4 star, Benny Logan a 3 star, Keke Mingo a 4 star, and Akiem Hicks a 4 star.

Not a bad haul considering the 5 star was a total bust and the 4 star never qualified.

Hicks was probably the best of them all. Too bad he never got to perform as a Tiger, dude is tremendous with the size he has and all.

Better than Brockers (1st rounder), Sam (1st rounder), and KeKe (1st rounder)?

Sure is, brah! You over lookin the fact that he never played at LSU, had he he would have been a first rounder, also! The Saints got a steal cause this guy will develop into an intimidating force in the middle, he showed tremendous speed and quicknees for someone that large that Brockers doesn't possess.

I'm not saying he's bad or anything, just that he will have to likely make several Pro Bowls to justify that type of praise and have a better career than some of those other studs.

The Saints drafted Sed Ellis in the first round who won awards and everything while at USC. He never did crap with the Saints and I hope they don't bring him back. Hicks did more or showed much more promise last season with the Saints than Ellis ever will! It sends shivers down my spine to think what LSU would have had with him and Brockers lined up next to each other, despite Mile's incompetence in the NC game, Alabama would have been destroyed by those two wreaking havoc!

Are we talking about "on paper", or actual results. I remember the Bama class of Antwan Odom, Anthony Bryant and Albert Means. Means was great. I wish bama had more players like means.

lsuhunt is the same one who felt the need to drop into every Beckwith thread and tell us he didn't believe we have a chance with Beckwith and he'd rather believe he was committing to Bama as to not be disappointed if he actually did. Pathetic

That is pretty pathetic.

It does explain why it bothers him do much.

Maybe if you go by stars...but LSU's DL has been outstanding for years on end

This... I must admit Florida's D-Line class from a few years ago had many of the top rated players in the country if you were star gazing b/c if you compare stars to production that D-Line class was in no comparison to LSU's over the past several years. Although I couldn't say RN would solidify this class as the best in SEC history but I know that if he did sign this D-Line class could be very special.

I would love to get Nkemdiche. He's a monster that would push for immediate playing time as a true freshman. That being said, I think he's Ole Miss bound. Hopefully I'm wrong.

Yes, way before his string of visits to OM.

Naysayers: All I can say is that I hope he surprises me...no pessimism needed, thanks.
