I'm serious. They are meeting today with a biologist to get facts about pelicans.

Typically, when people post information they inform the reading public where it came from to establish some sort of credibility and help us to believe what we are reading on our screens.

Team: "Can you tell us anything 'cool' about pelicans?"

Expert: "Ummm"

Team: "Anything."

Expert: "It's not Thunder..."

do you think the OKC people called up meteorologists and said "can you tell us anything cool about thunder?"

The following are more fun and interesting facts about pelicans:

• Fossils of pelicans date back almost 40 million years ago.

• The Dalmatian pelican, the largest species, has a wingspan that can reach the length of 11 1/2 feet.

• Pouches can hold up to three gallons of water (2 - 3 times the amount their stomachs can hold).

• Pelicans will flap their pouches to cool off on hot days.

• Gulls will often sit on a pelican's head to steal its fish when it opens its bill to pour out the water.

• In the wild, the average lifespan is 10 to 30 years.

Real question: other than the team not officially announcing the rebrand to Pelicans, what are people's sources of doubt about the information that the rebrand will happen. Just curious.

Thanks in advance.

i can't speak for everyone, obviously, but i don't believe that anyone doubts there will be a rebrand. i think it's more of a question of what the rebrand will be. that whole thing with 5 names came out about a month ago now, so i guess technically it could be any of those.

i'm sure most on here realize it undoubtedly will be pelicans, but those who hate it want to hang on to any bit of hope they have.

with the insane number of threads on here of people claiming to have inside information (i.e. DRIVEMAN, etc.), it's hard to sift through who actually does and who does not. that's where the doubt comes in.

eta: looks like psychology was the right choice for me. i can read people like a mofo

There are things on the Internet called trolls. They tend to make people question the credibility of posters posting random info without saying where they got it.

ETA: I'm pretty sure most people believe there will be a rebrand to Pelicans. It's all these little random stories about the name change that have us asking where they got the info

No one doubts we will be the Pelicans at this point.

People just don't like posters coming in and saying they have some source when most of the time they don't.

I don't think people doubt the rebrand, people are just quick to assume that every new face with a small post count and a source is an alter trolling HT. But we all know what assuming does...
