I'm sure it's been discussed, but when was the last year we didn't take at least 1 player from Texas? 1984.

Since the 1969 class, it has only happened in 1977, 1980 and 1984. I believe it is an anomaly, but it could be the addition of aTm to the SEC.

well, technically we got LeCoture from Texas, though he moved to Lincoln after commiting to Nebraksa, however he is not from Texas.
If we lose Paris and Brown to A&M next year, worry about it, for now it is an anomaly.

We could easily get Adam Taylor from TX, but we arent taking a RB this year. Overall, it is not a stellar year for TX recruits

And I'm just raising it for discussion, rather than an alarm. We sometimes take just 1 from Texas In this class we have an Illinois recruit that is a nationally ranked player - arguably the best in the class (although White is becoming the consensus #1 rated player) - and how many players have we taken from the State of Illinois? Right now, I wouldn't trade Pocic for any number of Texas players for which we were in the hunt.

Conmbination of it being a somewhat down year in Texas and us just not generating a ton of interest from the guys we did want

JT Barrett-we finished 2nd to OSU and I think we did better

Kyrion Parker-we had no issue letting him leave and could probably have him now if we wanted

Dontre Wilson-never showed much interest

Ricky Seals Jones-we just lost

Derrick Griffen-grades and still not over

Justin Manning-too erratic

Deondrei Davis-Texas happened

The other 2 LBs committed to TAM that we wanted as FBs

I'm sure there are a couple others I'm forgetting but we just didn't press many Texas kids this year. Have no fear though, we're all over Texas for '14 and will land at least 2-3 even with the loaded LA group

We struck out on Ricky Seals-Jones. That was a recruit that we lost out on to A&M

It's bc the talent in our state >>>> what we can realistically get from tx this year. Next year too. Florida and UGA have better talent than Texas this year. Has nothing to do with a&m.

Rsj was going to a&m before we even played. We beat them and didn't gain leverage. Their success has nothing to do with losing anyone.

Texas only has 3 5* players this year from what, 300,000 high school football teams in the state?? I'd agree its not Texas' best year for producing football players.

I saw RSJ in the allstar game....I don't feel as bad that we lost out on him, now. He might be a great TE in the future, but We'll be fine with the recruits we have at TE going forward...

Without question it's had an impact. How could it not? I think RSJ would have been a Tiger if A&M was still in the shithole that is the Big 12.

People that actually (Think) that A&M's joining of the SEC hasn't and will not continue to affect all other SEC teams recruiting in Texas just aren't leaving in reality.

Kids in Texas now know that if they want to play in the best conference in America they can stay home to do it. Texas will still get their share of the kids but now A&M is starting to get a ton of good players. Baylor's resurgence along with TCU's has helped getting kids out of Texas a lot harder then it's ever been.

A&M is and has been a sleeping giant in college football. A&M has almost untapped resources. They are one of the biggest universities in America and they have 1st class facilities, money, huge loyal alumni base, support, resources and one of the best recruiting grounds in America to choose from. They have underachieved for decades.

Everyone said A&M was going to suck in the SEC and they were going to get hammered, etc, etc So much for that working out for everyone. In 1 year they have put a shot in the arm to their entire program and went toe to toe with everyone in the SEC and have the best player in college football running their offense. They beat Bama, won 11 games and are wrapping up one of the best recruiting classes in the country.

A&M is here to stay and I'm actually glad because it now makes the A&M/LSU game much more important in the landscape of college football in the coming years.

Everything you said is spot on. I think most Tiger fans understand this, but some of them don't want to admit it. A&M is very similar to where LSU was prior to Saban being hired.

Guys, RSJ sucks. He should be a three star based on measurables alone, because he sure can't play football. I watched him in the all star game, and either he has no heart, or he has no ability, because he just wouldn't go get the ball.
