The best thing about Marksville is the road that runs through it.

I think the real problem here is the johnny come lately duck hunters that couldn't kill a limit at the LSU lakes with a loaf of bread!

There are more duck hunters now than I have ever seen.
I'm sure that majorly affects the public land hunting. It will catch up to rice field hunters soon too. Ducks are already avoiding levees and learning pit blinds.
The evolution of duck hunting will be interesting in the next 10 yrs.

They've been levy shy for years. Secret weapon is the layout blind, but not everybody wants to spend the hour to get one brushed and set up on their private lease every hunt. Sometimes it takes effort even for those of us on private ground.

No trust fund babies here, just people who put in more to something than they expect to get out.
If it wasn't for DU you would have 30 day duck seasons and 3 ducks. Would give you something else to bitch about! Stop taking the pussy way out, like the typical hunter that expects to go out 2 days before deer season, pours 100pds of corn and then gets mad when he doesn't kill.
Oh by the way, i'm typing this on my iphone, in my duck blind, hunting over heated ponds that DU installed for me, which we also use as a jacuzzi when its cold like it is today.
PS we limited 2 times already today and were taking a 3rd group as we speak!

The hype preseason from DU and DW with crazy bird numbers etc was pretty high. Top that with the drought and no crops etc in midwest and this was supposed to be a banner year.
Could it be these numbers are BS to keep the dollars flowing?

I have been saying this for years. DU might be great for the breading areas, but they have done nothing for the lower south. At the very least they have altered migration patterns. At the very worst they have lied about the numbers. I choose to believe they haven't lied.

All I have to say is get used to it.
