Looks like I was the other vote. The only one of mine that didn't make the Top 50. Only 4 didn't make the top 20, so all in all good list guys.

Thanks man I appreciate it.

Most of the time I've had two write ups. I spent a little more time on this one given I only had one. Though I was ready to write a solid one on The Muppet Movie.

re: Movies We Agree Don't Suck: 1970's Edition

quote:

It’s hard to overstate the importance of Star Wars and please note its STAR WARS, not Episode IV, especially for a 70’s list. It’s amazing to me how many friends of mine now have kids that are big Star Wars fanatics. This is mostly due to the toys and extended universe, which is really the enduring legacy of Star Wars, merchandising. Before Star Wars, that didn’t exist. Christmas 1977 the one right after Star Wars was released; the toys weren’t ready by Christmas. We got basically a coming soon package, with stickers, but it didn’t matter. Now the movie tie-ins are ready well before the movie is released, and sometimes drive the movie rather than the other way around.

A young buck I know, 21, I call him young buck bc I'm 26 and he's an idiot. But we were talking movies a while back and he talks a little bit about how he's a big star wars guy and they are his favorite movies. So I'm like o yeah which is your favorite one. Guy says #6. Smh. So he tells me he's not really into the older ones and likes the newer ones better. My buddy was taking him home while we were having this conversation, I'm pretty sure I didn't say anything to him of the next 15 minutes of the ride. And I'm not even a huge star wars guy.

I was thinking the same thing. How does this not make it? Deliverance? The Exorcist?

Short and sweet, one of my favorite movie quotes of all time. Or one of the best intros in movie history.

Deliverance: I don't see why this would be anyone's favorite. Its just disturbing and fricked up. Its a good film, but its not a film you enjoy.

Exorcist: Without question the biggest snub on the list. Should have probably made the top 15. I don't like the horror genre, but even I can acknowledge that this film is special.

IMO

50-60's > 90-00's > 70-80's

Ive seen a decent amount from the 30's and 40's, but not enough to rank them against the others just because of volume.

This was a made for TV movie fwiw.

FWIW, because it was so successful, it did have a theatrical release. It didn't do too well in theaters, but that shouldn't be too big of a surprise given the number of people who had already seen it on TV.

re: Movies We Agree Don't Suck: 1970's Edition

That's interesting, never heard that. But it was made as an ABC movie of the week. It was a big deal and re run for years.

ETA: But it had Sonny Corleone and Lando Calrissian, how cna you go wrong
