for pretty much anything by the awards industry and do you think it's worth recommending to someone to watch? Not even the ones financing the film or those who put it in theaters appear to be fighting for this movie, which is easily one of the most ambitious and arguably one of the most cinematic films of the year. I'll at least say that much for it.

I didn’t get some of it, but hey, that’s like life itself, I guess. It may have been because I went into it cold. I do need to watch it one more time. I will say that once Tom Hanks settles into a character(s), I had forgotten just how good an actor this man really is. I’m thinking maybe one reason for the Oscar snub is that the multi stories are hard for some to follow and also the characters don’t just make a straight line over time from good to evil or vice versa. And the time line presented in this movie is not in conjunction either. I had some problems with that, but I understand why time was all over the place. I guess I found that hard to settle into because that’s because that’s not what I expected. It’s all kind of fricked up like Chinese algebra. Again, like life itself.

Did you think it was just a big weird mess, or more deserving of accolades? It seems to be one of those polarizing movies, either you like it or hate it. Actually, I thought it was good, maybe not great, but still very thought-provoking and one can’t argue with the cinematography.

Though it is impractical-bordering-on-impossible to summarize the plot, the film weaves together six stories across 500 years, elliptically connecting them through themes of bondage, freedom, passion and jealousy. It features a collection of characters played across race and gender by Tom Hanks, Halle Berry, Jim Broadbent, Hugo Weaving, and others, often so heavily transformed by makeup it’s hard to tell who’s who. They even change gender. Many of the actors play multiple parts, too. And those actors are some real heavyweights. You have to figure they must have personally thought it would amount to more attention than it has garnered.

The movie asks how our actions resonate across time, and many segments transition through clever thematic juxtapositions that seek to comment on the cyclical nature of human suffering and joy. It is at times also thrilling, romantic, frustrating, funny, enigmatic, and sincere, along with confusing, too.

One hell of a ride through time, that’s for sure. It’s one I’m going to watch again. A movie has to be good enough for me to want to do that in the first place. I hardly ever watch a movie twice. It is a flick that is sincere in nature to a large degree, so I will give it another shot before I make a final decision.

What’s your take on this movie? I’d actually recommend it at this point. In the end, it makes some good points I won’t add for spoiler sake, so I’ll just end with I thought the story ideas and the way some of them come together are worth the price of admission.

Worth watching once, but no more. Not worthy of any Oscar nominations, IMO.

You may be right, just by the pure nature of the other movies out there up for nomination. You really can't argue with those.

it was a big movie but the bottom line is the story wasn't really there, all that just to give the message to treat people like they needed to be treated?? plus tom hanks proves again that he's a corny actor, i can barely watch him.

Can't argue with you on your points, but there is the choices scenarios as well in there, obviously, since that should be a gimme on the plot of any movie like this, so it's not giving any spoilers if I leave it at that.

You know, I have to agree with you on Hanks, but it's only when he first comes on the screen for me. After he settles into his roles, I find him believable.
