In the 90s, ESPN and the late Adrian Karsten, always seemed to use a segment for LSU home games where they did decibel readings. Does anyone have a chart of these - particularly for the recent games of the past decade? I ask because I would be interested in seeing how expansion has made a difference. Thanks!

I remember them doing that against Auburn in 2003.

I don't remember that segment but a lot of fans will say it was louder in the 80's. I do think there was a higher percentage of fans that yelled their arse off back then.

Back then students were adults who could legally consume adult beverages and everyone then consumed alot more of those adult beverages. You could smell the booze in the stands from the field when I was in Tiger Band. The noise was deafening for many a game.

I contend that some of the games--esp. v. Auburn--were louder in the mid 90s (first few years of DiNardo's tenure)

1995 Auburn was crazy. 1997 UF was insane.

I just think there is a higher percentage of casual or social fans that go to games today and who are not as emotionally invested in the game.

Watching it now. Tommy Banks just scored to make it 14-0. But, now the Gators are driving. 2:50 left in the first quarter and Florida has 1st and Goal.

The 1979 game vs. USC is always mentioned and with good reason ... probably the loudest. A game not talked about as much was the "fog game" against FSU in 1982.

Prior to the stadium expansion (pre-1978) ... these are the games I remember as loudest:

Notre Dame '71
Nebraska '76
Ole Miss '70
Ole Miss '72
Auburn '72

Early 80's me and some friends sold peanuts in TS. We got to know a lot of the students and just went and got them sprites and cokes the whole game. Would make a few hundred a game and get to see most of it. FSU orange bowl game was loud!

I think back then tickets were more affordable then they are now which made it easier for some fans to attend.

I'd rank those and maybe the 2007 Florida game and the 2000 Tennessee game right up there among the best of the era of the 2000's.

I'm still but a young lad, and the only LSU game I've ever been to in TS was 2009 Arky.. was pretty fricking loud. If all these games you guys are talking about were really a lot louder, I can't even imagine it.
