He had to take it. He was about to get canned at D'ville. No one can stand the prick. This guy thinks he is Saban and would definitely blow him if given the chance. He doesn't care about anyone but himself....PERIOD!

Read the online comment from NewsFreak about Williams and Redemptorist posted in today's Advocate newspaper article (I don't know how to post the link) about Williams being hired.

The way I see it is Williams is the fourth football coach and/or head football coach at Redemptorist High School since May 2012. Coach Vice left with the Principal Sanders, Athletic Director, basketball, volleyball, baseball coaches, Alumni Director and every other teacher but a handful that stayed under new headmaster Menard and Dr Mel Verges. Coach LaBorde and Coach Roane both were hired and left within the next six months. Redemptorist Schools of Baton Rouge received 143 voucher students for 2012-2013 school year, estimated about a million dollars of voucher state gravy train money. Even with this large number of voucher students enrolled with Redemptorist for the first time, the enrollment in November 2012 was listed as 228 students total, causing Redemptorist to be reclassified down to a1-A school, even though they chose to opt up to play 2A the next two school years. The future of Redemptorist High school has a hard task ahead of them under the leadership of Menard/Verges and will be almost impossible since the state voucher program was deemed unconstitutional last month for future voucher students / money under the current funding program. If the Catholic Diocese School Diocese Office under Melanie Verges supported the voucher program whole heartedly, why is it that Catholic High has zero voucher students, St Joseph's Academy has zero voucher students, and St Michaels High only has 1 or 2 voucher children maximum? I don't believe, and neither do the other 50 plus families that removed their children from RHS this school year after the last administration left, that good strategic planning has occurred on the part of Menard/Verges. Having said all this, I sincerely wish both the new football coach and new principal the best of luck, and pray that they can bring Redemptorist back to where it was under Principals Fabre and Sanders.
I knew it was bad over there, but didn't know it was that bad.

its very bad. Alot of tenured staff either retired or was let go by the new admin. You just cant fire tradition and respected teachers like that. Alot of alumni try to come back and help, but is ran off by the admin......

why is it that Catholic High has zero voucher students, St Joseph's Academy has zero voucher

CHS and SJA isnt even apart of the DIO of BR School Board, so Dr. Verges have no say so on what goes on at the 2 schools. They can do whatever they want to

The only BR high schools she is over is RHS and STM...and its sad cause she praises and favors STM over RHS to the point where everybody at RHS is like "F her" we dont need her support.

If you are talking about Coach Porche, he was hired as the VP at OLOM...Porche is probally one of the top RHS supporters of all time, but you cant blame the man for taking a higher admin job...good career choice.

What a load of shite.

RHS accepted < 20 voucher students this year split between 9th and 10th grade only.

It's an uphill battle, but its not nearly that bad.

And FYI the new principal Dr Maribeth Andereck is fantastic. She will get it done or no one can.

Dr andereck's son is a member of TD.

I remember he came out about her a while back

Oh, the Head of Schools wont be back next year. His wife was the principal at STM in Lafayette and she isnt renewing her position and wants to move out of state.

What spanky said. They only have roughly 20 vouchers and only 9th and 10th. Dr Andereck will do what it takes to right the ship. She's done it at other places so she knows what it takes

I did not write the comment but did check the Advocate newspaper article written in May 2012. The article and DOE website showed Redemptorist Schools of Baton Rouge with 143 vouchers for this school year of 2012-2013. The schools encompass K-12th grades I assume. I'm hopeful reading your comments about Dr. Andereck. Thank you for the details.

The school is "officially" k-12 as of the year before last.

Listed under the Wikipedia site for Redemptorist High School history is: "Redemptorist Elementary School and Redemptorist High School have merged into the Redemptorist Schools of Baton Rouge in the 2011-12 school year under the supervision of Mr. Brian Menard." Thank you Modern for this information.
