give the article thumbs down. He was trying too hard to make a statistical case for a viewpoint that has little to no statistical significance.

If you check out the author's work and his puerile website, you'll find that is his MO. And fools buy into it because they think that his numbers validate his opinion.

I will gladly eat crow that I was really really wrong in agreeing with the OP. Thing is I always really liked Kaepernick in college, but man has he proven a lot of doubters wrong.

People that doubted him were dumb, or they weren't watching the games.

It was obvious after a single quarter of play that Kaepernick was the vastly superior QB in all aspects.

No, what is immediately obvious is that Kaepernack was Harbaugh's guy and Smith wasn't. Smith played not to make mistakes because he knew his job was in jeopardy, whereas Kaepernack knows his coach has his back, so he can take more risks.

San Fran has two solid QBs who can run their offense well. That's the takeaway here.

Are you saying it wasn't immediately apparent to you that Kaepernick could do things that Smith would never be able to do?

Like you never thought to yourself:
- "I don't think Alex Smith could have made that throw", or
- "Smith wouldn't have been able to buy that extra time in the pocket like Kaepernick just did", or
- "Oh wow, Kaepernick has legitimate wheels."

Smith can make all the throws. He can also run extremely well.

1. It hasn't shown that yet. And ya know, they're 1 game away from a title lol.

2. That doesn't factor in the running ability of the 2 QBs at all. Show me the study where 1 QB has a slightly higher QB rating with negligible rushing yards compared to the QB with slightly lower QB rating with great rushing stats, then we have a legit comparison.

I guess you just aren't very good at evaluating talent.

And it tells us that teams with the higher passer rating -- what we call Passer Rating Differential -- consistently win more than 80 percent of all NFL games

Also, I don't know much of anything about ESPN's QBR, but I wonder what the win% is on a QB with a higher QBR, as I believe Kaepernick has the edge there.

It seems like we're posting data and facts, but not really telling the entire story.
