Has anybody tried brewing beer at home? Any tips? How did it turn out?

LINK

There's an entire thread about it. In your defense it was on the 2nd page... but still.

Nope. no one here has ever tried it. I'll stop being a dick now.

I tried it. I'd rather buy good beer than take up room in my fridge with beer that might turn out OK and costs as much. I have a beer kit I'll sell you.

I got a kit during a white elephant game this Christmas. So I will try brewing my own just for the experience. But like you said, it is probably better to just buy beer at the store

I doubt you will be happy with this product as I'm sure this is bottom of the line beer brewing stuff.

Go to a beer festival or two and taste some of the homebrews. Or better yet, look up a home brew club and maybe join them for a meeting.

Just bottled my first batch today. Got 90% of my info from the posters on this board. It has been an awesome experience so far and the beer smells fricking great

Some terrible, some decent, and some great.

If you're serious about it, read How to Brew and see if it's something you might could do. Then go get yourself a starter kit and get to brewing.

Damn. Sorry to hear that it didn't turn out so well for you. It's a hobby and it for sure takes up some time but I really love it. I enjoyed the beer that we brewed and haven't ever really been too disappointed with one to make me feel like I was wasting my time.

From the smell/look, it's going to taste great.

Here's a pic of the growlers:

Brewing was like a bad relationship. I wanted it to work, but I just couldn't get the results I wanted. Damn, now I'm thinking about things other than brewing...

I'm hoping to as well. Keeping my eye on the weather. I'm not above brewing at midnight if the weather is good. Damn rain. Planning a french farmhouse.
