Sam Jackson as well. I'd say that was his best performance yet.

Yep.

Sorry Alan Arkin, but Leo or Jackson should have had that spot.

ETA: Yes my avatar is a pic of a young Alan Arkin in Wait Until Dark. Still shouldnt be nominated for this though

Lincoln is so winning Best Picture. No director nods for Affleck or Bigelow? That's tipping your hand, guys.

The academy has been very harsh on Leo.

Give me:

Best Actor: Daniel Day Lewis (Lincoln)
Best Supporting Actor: Christoph Waltz (Django Unchained)
Best Actress: Jennifer Lawrence (Silver Linings Playbook)
Best Supporting Actress: Anne Hathaway (Les Miserables)
Cinematography: Skyfall
Directing: Who cares, Affleck not nominated
Best Picture: Argo

First glance snubs:

Samuel L. Jackson (Supporting Actor for Django Unchained)
Ben Affleck (Director for Argo)

Disagree. Ben Affleck's directing snub for Argo is probably one of the biggest snubs in a very long time.

Yup. Argo was fantastically directed.

Personally think Sam Rockwell in Seven Psychopaths deserves a mention in best supporting actor...but I guess that's not really an Academy Award type of movie.

Two complaints:

Leo not being nominated for supporting actor is a fricking joke. He stole the show in that movie and was even better than Waltz. The Academy hates Leo for whatever reason

The achievement in directing list is flat out pathetic. I can complain all day about this.

We need a good rant about this.

No Katheyn Bigelow, no Ben Affleck, and no Tom Hooper in Directing. Surprised by that.

Just to give some historical perspective, not since 1965 have so few directors nominated for a DGA Award failed to garner an Oscar nomination.

Wait... are we pretending Tom Hooper is a good director again? He's competent, but I thought his Best Director nod over the loaded field of Aronofsky, Fincher, Coen, and Russell is widely seen as one of the biggest WTF? moments in recent Oscar history. That's a who's who of directing talent won by the guy down the hall.

Bigelow, Affleck, and Tarantino got hosed, though.

Agreed, but after everything I've heard about Zero Dark Thirty, I have to imagine that Bigelow's snub is AT LEAST as unfair. Can't wait to see this.

I really hope not. DDL should absolutely win Actor IMO, but Lincoln just was not the Best Picture of the year.

Hoping ZD30 can pull it out, but if not, maybe Life of Pi has an outside shot given that it got a lot of love from the nominations as well.

Loved Pi, and was perhaps one of the most visually captivating films of all time.

Silver Linings Playbook seems pretty unimpressive to have so many nominations. I hate the oscars

You should watch the movie, it deserves all of those nominations. It was easily the best movie I've seen this year.
