NOT giving up mine.

Correct the gov is not coming to take away all our guns. But they are starting a process to make ownership limited, pain in the ass, financially hard, and eventually impossible.

Today it is my rights and freedoms being infringed upon, tomorrow it will be yours.

re: I will Not give up my Guns!

Being vocal is the best way to ensure that it don't happen. Good work.

My letter to the local paper:

We all want the best for our nation, just a matter of which policies make it happen. Ever since God granted man ‘free will’ and Adam took Him up on it, the choice of Evil entered our world. Philosophically, I assume that Adam made the choice to experience evil to test himself and prove the Devil’s assertions re him and his Father as wrong. Though well-meaning, we might have bit off more than we can chew; thank God for the mercy of Jesus.

After two weeks of Bob Franken’s unrealistic “Frankensense” relating to gun control, and Turnip’s assertion that racism is the reason many reject Obama’s policies, I reckon the Daily Star editorial staff is either out to educate us or rile us up. Since I believe that NRA top dog Wayne LaPierre is right in saying that “the only thing that stops a bad guy with a gun, is a good guy with a gun”...I’m in the latter category. Our world and community is changing, so I hope the local school boards man up and take proper precautions.

And re racism...after four years of Obama’s race-division politics a lot of us have taken Martin Luther King’s advice and judge Obama not by his color, but his character. His personal injection into the volatile Trayvon Martin killing with his “if I had a son he’d look like Trayvon” comment - while the Black Panthers publically offered a reward for the assassination of the defendant - pretty much did it for me. Eric Holder called us out in being scared to talk about race; people that live in glass houses shouldn’t throw rocks!

Obama, Holder and Franken et al are being disingenuous; though many who support them are just short-sighted and emotionally-misguided. And here’s why. They full well know that a large majority of citizens who have formidable arms (high-capacity magazines) do not do so for personal home protection...but as a last-line deterrent to a tyrannical government. They’ve polled em’, that’s what they believe. Yet nobody wants to say it in public because the very thought of revolting against our own government and the will of the majority is repulsive. But the Founders knew what it felt like to be under the yoke of an all-powerful government with rogues at the top calling the shots, even if a majority of the folk supported that government. Hit the Goggle button on your computer and check out the evidence of the last Century’s history of gun confiscation. Ugly stuff. Power woefully corrupts those who have too much of it - we see it every single day up there in Washington; and it was governments supposedly acting for the good of the common folk that mass-murdered way over a hundred million people after they took their guns.

Last Thursday, your EPA was beat back in a Virginia Court while trying to lawfully have ‘rain’ regulated as a pollutant. Do yall know what that would mean. I means that they come into your back yard and tell you how to run it. Costly permits, inspections, regulations, etc. Check out the satirical movie “Brazil” with Robert De Niro, if you have a expansive mind, strong stomach and a warped sense of humor re big government.

Right now, our President has invoked Executive Privilege to cover for the head of his Justice Dept. Eric Holder, in regard to the evidence of the Fast N Furious gun scandal. How many know what that gun scandal is about? Not many, I’ll bet. Here it is. Holder knew and approved of cutting loose thousands of truly military weapons - including 50 cal. machine guns - to ruthless drug dealers in Mexico. Now these heathen routinely cut the heads off the families of those who resist them...so I wonder if M Holder and Obama consider the lives of Mexican children worth less than those up in Sandy Hook? Disgusting! And Holder thinks I’m racist and wants to take my gun. Mmm huh! How bout just tell the truth up there so we can trust our government! Because “He that is faithful in little, is faithful in much” (Biblical). So tell me that those who support the Second Amendment in it’s original intent to keep sufficient arms in the hands of the common folk in order to limit the power of rogues at the top of government...don’t so in good and responsible conscience. Or to keep a gun in the house because the police won’t be there before a crime is committed. I bought a gun with a big magazine as an act of civic and personal responsibility, in deference to an existential threat. All three of my neighbors have had their doors kicked in; and I now hear that 7 of the 9 man gang have been apprehended. I live at the end of a gravel road out in the country, and I know how many deputies are on patrol. I saw what was out there in Katrina and realized that I could not depend on the Law to save me and my fragile wife and family. I’m half blind, and it would take ten shots just to zero in on a carload of heathen-professional criminals. Twenty will help.

It would be easy to employ Jesus’ “turn the other cheek” advice and let somebody else do the bad stuff. Kinda like eating a good steak over refined conversation and fine wine, and letting the butcher handle the gore. Easy, but not right. I’d rather pay a spiritual price than get a pass and let somebody else do the dirty work required to maintain a civil society where I can even read my Bible in security. Good grief, if the Democrat Party had their way, I suspect that the Bible and the belief that Jesus Christ is the “only begotten’ would be lawfully censored in all public enterprise (schools at the fore) as bigoted hate speech. Judgmental and not inclusive. So refuting lies and bearing witness to Truth is ‘judgmental’ and harmful to society and spiritually unprofitable? Wow! How things change.

This nation is made up of the finest people on the Planet. I’ll be glad when the vision of Truth appears and unites us, and we can move toward our high potential. Happy New Year.

Great post. I think many of us have guns for this same reason. I know personally that Katrina was definitely an eye opener for many around our area.

Yes it was

My inlaws who are not gun fans asked to borrow a gun during this time. I was happy to lend them one.

It is based upon politicians saying that they want to pass laws that involve the confiscation of guns. Many of them have said this over the last 3/4 of a month, yesterday it was Coumo Jr. at the podium, last week the Illinois legislature was looking at a similar bill. That shows that it is not based upon paranoia, but upon reality.

Wrong, the Constitution doesn't grant us our rights, it protects the rights we already had.

Consider:

Congress shall make no law ...abridging the freedom of speech

the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed

The right of the people to be secure in their persons...shall not be violated

Do you see how the document recognizes these rights as pre-existing and doesn't actually grant these rights?

You, sir, have a chicken dinner waiting for you.

quote:

there ain't enough given the entire US population to do so successfully without the assistance of the Military...and they ain't on your side, and if they were you wouldn't need your guns in the first place. I think someone has just seen the remake of "Red Dawn" and is full of the spirit, but at the end of the day you will give up your sacred guns if the Govt decides they want them.

Spoken like a true pacifist and coward.

The United States would be the absolute definition of resistance in the form of Guerilla Warfare. Do people honestly think that gunowners will open up their doors and say, "They are all in the Safe, here's the combination"????

Do people want US Citizens on the Government Payroll wearing skimasks kicking in doors in the middle of the night? The country will be a police state over night. People need to look past step 1 of gun confiscation and get to step 2,3,4,5.

You anti-gun people need to get a fricking grip on reality. This is not about "My Guns", this is about where the line is with Government Authority. This country is a Constitutional Republic and the day the Government starts shitting on the Constitution is the day this country ceases and a new one forms.....That new one looks like it is going to be anti-gun, authoritarian, and Executive Order Ruled. Oh there are other names for this type of government, but you smart people aren't ready to make the next intuitive step.

I like the fact that regardless of "mob rule" also known as democracy is held in check by governing principles that are not negotiable.

In the end; I will fight. I will endure. I will resist. Handing over 3 antique shotguns and stating that I sold them all for cash which I pissed away on X,Y,Z will be the story of the day in America. And many Americans will resist. Sorry if your spine isn't up for it. Mine isn't up for paying for people's unemployment for 99+ weeks, food stamps for able bodied men and women, unlimited child stipends for illegitimate children...and damn near every other social welfare cheat's existence, but I do.

A lot of gun owners are just wannabe tough guys. I'm for gun rights but don't really feel a need to own anything more than a shotgun. I guess it makes some people feel like warriors to own an arsenal, takes their mind off the facts they live in the suburbs and have a shite office job.

FIFY
Cash might just end up being their plan. Once all the guns are paid for, the US dollar goes to shite and is worth nothing. So my wife knows to take only gold or silver for my guns, because I'll be shot dead when they come to take em from me.
Liberty or Death, nothing else

God given right to guns? No way

Well, for some Christians, like the owner of Hobby Lobby, he's being fined for not bowing to Obama. Obama made an Executive Order to discard the first amendment right of freedom OF Religion. That's why we know he doesn't give a frick about the second amendment, in which he is most similar to the men that killed the kids in Massachusetts, the people in the Aurora Theatre and the people in Tucson. Look at the 64 children killed by Obama's drones. Oh, that's right, he can kill innocent children in nations that we have not made a declaration of war.

quote:

Obama’s administration neither documents nor acknowledges the civilian casualties of the CIA’s drone strikes in Pakistan. But a report by the law schools at Stanford and New York universities suggests that during the first three years of his time in office, the 259 strikes for which he is ultimately responsible killed between 297 and 569 civilians, of whom at least 64 were children.

So you are good with your children and grandchildren living in a world where there are no rights and they live under a communist regime? I am not ok with that, so I will do what I can to keep that from happening. If I die doing so, then I die for what I believe in instead of living like a spineless coward. I guess I value the rights of the average citizen more than my own life and I won't apologize for that.
