Me and a few buddies are looking to go on a weekend camping trip soon, (February) and were thinking of heading to Clark Creek (near Angola/Tunica with the waterfalls) and camping near the Miss if possible so we could try to grab some fish as well.

Researched it a bit and it says you can't camp there/aren't any tent spots there.. Anyone know of any? Or something else within maybe 5-6 hours of driving that fits that.

Thanks in Advance fellas.

Hot Springs. Camp and fish the Ouchita. Lotsa of trails around HS and Ouchita. What kinda fishing? Distance of hikes and difficulty?

Chicot State Park. There are sand boxes for the tents.

I would recommend Indian Creek reservoir near alexandria...it is a nice camping area on a reservoir all surrounded by the state forest...only a few hours from NO and close to Alexandria in case you need anything...

I have spent a lot of time there and it is an enjoyable place to camp...

realistically anything we can put on the fire, but we prefer bass fishing in a normal situation.

I prefer hills/sights to see, we're all in good enough shape minus one guy who is stuck smoking still.

if you want something completely different than what you are used to seeing in south LA, go to red dirt near natchitoches...no fishing there, but the scenery is like nothing you will see in LA...

I am not familiar with any of the mississippi campgrounds...

Whatever you do go after deer season or make sure where you are hiking there is no hunting. Good way to get shot.

You have several good options mentioned in this thread. Quit procrastinating, make a decision, and get to planning.

This idea and google Wild Azalea Trail. All in the same area.

Well I've got a good month and a half to plan, I'm still in the brainstorming phase... gonna narrow it down to the choices I like and then present them to the group

Turkey season starts up in the spring, too. I went backpacking in Arkansas one time while that was going on. It was...interesting.

Nice place. It's been quite a few years since I've been. But the lake is supposed to have some decent fish. May need a bateau or canoe/yak to fish.

Some family went lately and they enjoyed it.

Thats a good idea. You can just hike and camp the azalea trail but there isnt any fishing that I know of. Ive caught some fish in castor plunge creek but it was down stream where it runs though our family land and it looks a tad bigger than what Ive seen in pics from the trail.
I would recommed arkansas, maybe alberts pike since it isnt too far. Ive been there and it was very nice.

Lake Kincaid to the west of Alexandria. 30 miles of trails from your tent pad which includes wild azaela. Could fish kincaid and valentine where that 15+ pound bass was caught last year.
