exactly along the lines I was thinking

Or do you just not care about having the same topics on both the SECr and TD?
what don't you get about them being separate boards?

Board start off topic-based and become both topic and community based...there is a "community" on the SEC Rant that would prefer their own non-sports talk forum...it's a natural evolution.
This place would benefit from having a "Soc" board. That way, all the WYHI and other social type things could go one there. The OT could be a real off topic board where real questions get real answers. Inb4Iheardyouthe1sttime.

My big problem really isn't separating the OT, its what else it could lead to and other boards it can destroy. Where does it end? Will there be an SEC MSB? SEC Poliboard? SEC M/TV board? I think it will kill off a bunch of boards really if we continue with this.

It seems clear that the direction they are moving in is creating two separate boards to maximize appeal and reach (and thus traffic/ad revenue). It also appears they are allowing this process to move slowly and naturally so as to avoid the issues you raise.

I doubt anyone will leave the TD boards (though it'd be nice if fr33 did)

I think it's just going to draw the posters that are joining via the SECr and those who almost exclusively post there. And who likes new posters anyway?

Yea there are several SEC posters who never venture out to the other boards.

The ones that do will not stop visiting TD.com just because they have a duplicate of that board.

Is the SECr really a threat to "destroy" other boards? Y'all are being really silly.

I'm more concerned about the M/TV board. Got a closely knit group of people there that have similar interests in film and I take recommendations from them every week about my next film to watch. Don't want that to get fricked up.
