Good call, I'm actually semi hopeful that the 3rd movie won't be as bad because they don't want to make a complete shite hole of a film. But who knows

A solid film but I feel as if the poorly written second and third books will drag the franchise down once they adapt them to film.

Still...I give The Hunger Games a B+.

the movie looked cheap, the design was tacky, and anything resembling drama was lacking.

I have to agree. It reminded me of Running Man.

teen entertainment.

I guess that's why younger people loved it.

I think we can all agree that Jennifer Lawrence is a big plus.

She and the little girl she saved were the only people I cared about in the movie.

I'd rather see Lawrence in things like Winter's Bone again than stuff like this. She needs to make some more excellent movies like that before she goes all Johnny Depp and does more big budget, junk movies.

I really liked the books. The movie was pretty decent. I would definitely go see the next Hunger Games that comes out

Book 1 was good. Book 2 just repeated book 1. Book 3 was a turd sandwich.

The movie was meh and could have been executed better.

I tried watching it On Demand the other night and had to stop after the first hour. Worst cinematography I've seen in a long time (not counting the 5 minutes I watched of Contraband)

I will try again tonight

I thought it was kind of hokey, but obviously the book must have been so it isn't like they could considerably change the story. The main problem I had with it was the complete lack of any kind of epic shots and camera work. For crap's sake they were shooting in literally the same area as Last of the Mohicans and it could have just as easily been the woods behind my house. I don't even know why they bothered leaving a Hollywood stage.

7/10

I am one of the few that liked it better than the book. I am even one of fewer that did not think the books were as good as everybody says.

Yeah, they clearly need a new cinematographer, since that is the worst cinematography I can remember off the top of my head.

I didn't care for it at all. At every turn the writer took the easiest turn in the plot to assure the main charters avoided conflict and the hard decisions that would inevitably come from such an event.

Way too simplistic.

If it makes you mad that he let her live, you don't understand why.

Amazing book, pretty great movie. Can't wait for the next!

If you compare these books to Harry Potter again I'll murder all of your relatives in front of you. You'll have to become The Punisher to get back at me

Harry Potter was much better than any of the others I listed. The imagination she used to create her universe was excellent. But do you really think it was anything other than light escapist fiction? Rowling never took any great artistic risks with her novels, nor did she express any profound, deep ideas.

For the record, I never read twilight either. That doesn't mean that I don't know what to expect from them if I did. That's what makes these books bubble gum pop fiction as I called them. They are transparent.

For books being billed as teen novels, they are very violent and intense. To make the movie as intense, probably would've had to have a R rating. I enjoyed the movie, but it could have been better. I'll go see the next one.
