Student loan question

So I'm going into my last 2 semesters of college. I have worked part-time jobs every semester since my sophomore year of high school. I have less than $1k in savings. This semester I will be doing an unpaid internship on top of 19 hours of school. I simply wont have time to work a part-time job.

My rent is $350/month.

Utilities are usually in the $60-70 range.

Groceries are about $100/month.

Tuition/books are paid for.

I don't eat out so miscellaneous purchases are almost nonexistant.

My question is: Is there a student loan where I can get a small amount of money (~5k) just to help me through these last 2 semesters where my income will be almost nothing? If so, where do I begin to look? I know loans aren't the best ideas, but I don't know what else to do at this point aside from declining the internship.

Thanks for the help

The financial aid office would be a great place to start. You may also qualify for a Pell grant.

THanks. I'm going to look into Sallie Mae. I don't have much credit so I don't know if I am even eligible for a loan.

you'll probably need a co-signed with good credit.

I would explore the federal student loan options before getting a private loan.

You can most likely be awarded a fed subsidized loan for about $10,500 a semester.

You DO NOT have to take all of it. Before it is disbursed, you have the option of accepting all or a portion of it. If $3000 is all you need, than just accept $3000.

Interest rate may be a little higer than Sallie Mae, but you'll also have more payback option programs for the fed loans.
